+1 to that! That's the reason why there were 300000 swifts on Indian roads in 46 months! In fact I had great expectations of the Indica vista, till i got to drive one and see and observe it very closely last weekend. Sorry Tata, you need to be better!

This is plain and simple marketing gimmick. They have to stay on top of the minds of the potential buyers. And hence, trying to come out with such glam stuff. In reality, there is little value add to the buyer.

Well, they need to either change their in-house marketing folks or their external agency. High time.

It is an All New K-Series Engine with a capacity of 1.2 Litres, which is already doing duty in the Ritz.

I am wondering if somebody from Hero-Honda moved into Maruti-Suzuki. The new features of Swift Glam is so similar to the Passion-Passion plus-Passion plus plus etc range introduced by HH

The petrol Swift makes sense to as many as 3,500 new customers per month, while your un-inspiring and 'plain' Getz makes sense to just 500 customers per month.

Remember, no car is perfect. But the simple fact that it sells around 7 times than Getz, proves that it has some 'sense' with it.

NO matter how rubbish this Limited editsion looks(& it is) sadly thats what sells in India.

Maruti has been doing it successfully over the last few years & so have other manufacturers (Remember Sivic & Altis Sports).

As for clearing stocks no way for a Swift.

This however does seem in response to the new competition(GP, i20 etc) keeping in mind that the Ritz hasn't started on a very positive note.

I don't see anything bad in this model. They are not claiming it to be the fastest sports car or something. Some additional features have been incorporated and are being advertised ? Whats wrong in that ?

Please buy/ recommend if you like them, else don't.

Absolutely correct! Of what little I understand of Marketing, this is a gimmick to shift focus. Beige interiors get many people interested.

When people who have checked the GP and others come to the Maruti showroom look at the refreshed car; Ultimately many people settle to the 'PROVEN' image of the product.

After that the prospective customer is bolwed over by the sales numbers, the and A.S.S, cheap parts and other blah blah by the sales people.
Hence in most cases it works.

So all in all I would say that these moves act like candidates who stand independant in an election. They eat up some part of the pie and leave the main player dejected.
Good move, not the car, by Maruti here, even though I like the idea of beige in a Swift.
