Jazz with 1.5L coming

Quote:
Honda recently launched is premium hatchback model Jazz in India. The model received a lukewarm response from the Indian car buyers mainly owing to its hefty price tag. If the overall response is not extremely encouraging, it is not disappointing either. In spite of being a premium car, Jazz has managed to pull crowds to the showroom and the company booked 1000 Jazz in the first week itself. Deliveries of the new Jazz model have started from June 10 onwards.
“We are happy at the response received by Honda Jazz; we are sure that the customers of Honda Jazz will appreciate the product and help us win new customers,” said Honda Jazz, Mr. Jnaneswar Sen, Vice President, Marketing, Honda Siel Cars India. Jazz will be manufactured at Honda’s Greater Noida plant and sports a localization level of 77% from day one. The Jazz has also been certified to give 16.1 KMPL tested by ARAI.
Current model of Honda Jazz comes with a 1.2 Litre i-VTEC engine generating 90 bhp but Honda is ready to increase the power of the new Jazz already. It intends to launch the 1.5L petrol variant in 2010. Apart from the 1.5L engine, it will also have an optional automatic transmission but that would be at the cost of additional one lakh rupees.
What remains to be seen is that is the Indian customer ready to shell out a price for small car just for its luxury, Honda’s reliability and its brand image.

It will be very interesting to see the premium Honda will charge above 1.2L for the 1.5 L engine.

So how much is it going to cost? The high end Jazz as of today is around 7.3L ex-Delhi, right? So my guess would be 8L for the 1.5L engine bringing it ever closer to ANHC. I would like to see ANHC suffer. Maybe then they might add some more features to it (alloys, fog lamps)

IMO 1.5 Jazz would be priced close to ANHC.
This would be just like the Chevy Optra and SRV pricing (when it was released).

I have a feeling that if they are able to get the High End Hatch established, then you will be at or around the City pricing. I have read some noise that it is costlier to produce the Jazz than the City!

with the 1.2L being priced sooooooo high i doubt if they are gonna do something 'miraculous' to the pricing of the 1.5L. Keeping fingers crossed

1.5L at the same price would be a good buy, not at a lakh higher.

According to Autocar, the 1.5L will be a lakh more and auto version will be pricier by almost another lakh.

This would be one awaited hatch. Honda really needs to work on the pricing of this else it would be in the same state as what the chevy SRV is in.

If only the process were faster. Honda will have a killer product for India.

9.5L for the 1.5L - Wow that is a hatch allright !

AFAIK - there is no 1.5L Jazz in the pipeline.

We must not forget the 1.5 will attract far higher excise. So it is not only the avarice of Honda to be blamed.
