Yup, they are also very popular with the rural folk. Am not too sure of the safety aspects though.

The popularity of Magic>Winger>Bigbuses between Jorhat and Mariani town(25Kms) in this order
The "stop and Go" requirement of public transport every couple of km make average speed very low hence no big safety worry here.

aaahhh just the right data. GTO thanks. Was looking for a soft copy of SIAM data for june month and then ran into this topic. I used to have access to SIAM monthly publication (hard copy) in my office library until few months back. But moved to US recently and have been searching for a PDF version.

Morning Shiva,

Unfortunately, Chevy is not sharing individual sales figures of the Captiva. They are being clubbed together with the Tavera.

When I visited the service mela of GM a couple of months back, I was told that they sell a consistent number of 600+ per month.

600+ is simply not possible. No 20+ lakh SUV has managed those kind of numbers in India. Period.

Looks like Ford has taken a big hit. Wonder why the Fiesta numbers have dropped. It still remains one of the best cars to drive even today. It is also competitively priced and so pricing is not an issue. Styling, though subjective, I would say is decent.

Wonder what went wrong.

As per Autocar MSIL sold 5009 Dzire Sedans in June 09. If you subract the number from 6100 C segment cars sold by MSIL in the month, SX4 sales stand at 1091 cars. That is much better than what the Linea has managed. Not bad for a 1600 cc car with only a petrol power plant.

Are some customers moving rto MSIL from the much more expensive Honda City. This trend may gather stem with HSCIL discontinuing the sales of the base Hnda city.

Yes 1000 Odd is low by ANHC standards as well as the initial sales SX4 had for almost 8 months since its launch. However, it is second best selling among Petrol Sedans in the mid size segment. There is no other sedan after ANHC that is close to SX4 in petrol. Linea's 900 odd sales might constitute 70% diesel I guess and so is the split for Verna.

A lot of its potential sales are actually being eaten by its own younger brother Dzire rather than ANHC in my opinion. I am sure with a Diesel option, it will give a stiff competition to ANHC.

Dude, but then it won't be a fair comparison as per what you mentioned earlieras ANHC also has only Petrol Variant & no diesel variant

Agreed. Sx4 can beat or match up with ANHC only with a Diesel. There is no hiding away from the fact that people will prefer Honda over a Maruti without the fuel advantage
