Slightly

Even with the meagre sales of the SX4(fell by atleast 50% YoY),they are not offering hefty discounts

Have talked with multiple dealers in Kolkata and they are only giving a discount of 23K and that includes corporate discount as well.

I had thought with such dwindling sales, discount would more be like 40-50K like offered in the Fiesta.

Forget Punto, I hardly see any Lineas here in Mumbai. May be one Linea every 10 ANHCs. I fear Linea sales might drop to 600-700 in July :(

Could be although I have been spotting more Linea's in the last two months then in the first 3 months of it's launch. I see about 5 Linea's everyday. I do expect sales to fall to about 700-750 in July. Punto should touch 2000 in July. If not then they are in trouble. BIG trouble.

+1,

In April i hardly saw Lineas on road, not even once did i get to witness them in 2-3 days.
Dont know how but but mid june onwards till july end i daily see atleast 3-5 Lineas on roads wherever i go South delhi or west delhi.
Sales figures from Tata will come in a day or two, one thing is sure in Delhi sales have picked up.

It takes time for data to come from SIAM. I don't think SIAM releases data on 1st or 2nd of the month or even 1st week of the month

Linea is a head turner. Saw a maroon/red (whatever they call it) one today. Looked georgeous. Wish it came with a 1.6L petrol.

Maruti Sales surge in July

Source: Company Website

Maruti Suzuki sales in July 2009 New Delhi, August 01, 2009

Car market leader Maruti Suzuki India Limited grew 33.4% and sold a total of 78,074 vehicles in July 2009. This includes 10,546 units for export.

The company had sold a total of 58,543 vehicles in July 2008.

Maruti Suzuki's volume in the domestic A2 segment grew by 38.3% per cent. In the A3 segment the sales volume grew by 51.5 per cent during the month as compared to sales in July 2008. It is the highest ever A-3 segment sales for the company.

During the month the company crossed the milestone of 50,000 export units for A star, which was introduced internationally in January 2009. The A star is Maruti Suzuki's flagship export model. The major markets for this model in Europe include Germany, UK, France, Netherlands and Greece.

In the domestic market, during July '09, the company introduced new Grand Vitara with a more powerful 2.4 litre engine and new features. The Grand Vitara is available with options of manual and automatic transmission.

Segment Details in the attached file. Couldn't paste it here as the figures were going haywire

A3 segment has registered a whopping 51% growth over last july. This is the highest ever figure for Maruti in A3 segment. There is a good possibility this time that SX4 would have touched atleast 1500 cars this month. Dzire seems to be just blasting off like a missile. A2 also has registered a significant growth largely due to the introduction of Ritz. Ritz seems to be a runaway success
Omni still continues to rock. Looks like Maruti will never be able to replace this van

Just read the below article from Wheels Unplugged

Honda Siel Cars India (HSCI) has recorded a 12 per cent increase in sales for the month of July 2009 with 4,857 units as against 4,337 units sold in July 2008. Out of the total units sold, the company has clocked 3,268 units of City, 1,037 units of Jazz, 299 units of Civic, 223 units of Accord and 30 units of CR-V.
The company sold 17,625 units in the period Apr–July 2009 as against 16,412 units in the corresponding period last year marking an increase of 7.4 per cent in sales.
Honda’s globally acclaimed Jazz, deliveries of which started on June 10, 2009 sold more than 3,000 units till July end. Honda Jazz is being manufactured at HSCI’s facility in Greater Noida, U.P. with localisation level of 77 per cent, to be scaled up in phases. Bookings for the Honda Jazz have been a runway hit at the company’s vast distribution network of 105 authorised dealership facilities, across the country. HSCI has already expanded and strengthened its dealer network in preparation for the launch of the Jazz and this network is likely to go up to 112 facilities by the end of the current financial year. Expressing delight over the performance of Honda Jazz, Jnaneswar Sen, vice-president, Marketing, Honda Siel Cars India had earlier said “We are happy at the response received by Honda Jazz; we are sure that the customers of Honda Jazz will appreciate the product and help us win new customers.”

Well then thats bad, Jazz has gone to a lower level of 1000 vs the 2000 it was touted to reach, City selling larger qtty than the cheaper Jazz, cannot be good for the long run for the company,
Accord too has stagnated around 200, civic is getting beaten by altis and CRV is disappearing. This growth of 12% is actually bad news considering the additional models that they are selling.

I think Honda themselves have said that City will sell more than Jazz. They dont expect much nos. from Jazz anyways. City will be the largest selling car in Honda stable .
