Exactly! Which is why there are polls. And which is why the question asked is "Which cheapest car is your choice?". Your post seemed to me as trying to influence others' choice or at least questioning it.

P.S. I don't hate Tata cars.

Anmol, most of us have not driven the nano and I just can’t judge without feeling the car. M800 was my second car and have no complains against it. It has done its job quite well.

Tata Nano for me. Simply for the mega achievement that this car is...for India & for Tata. The Nano has given value-engineering an all new meaning. It's also achieved something else : Image. Despite being the cheapest car in India, I'm seeing many multi-car owners (some of which include the Germans) waiting to get their Nanos home. The Nano's buzz & cuteness is not matched by cars more expensive!

The Nano radiator being almost at the edge of the rear bumper is quite vulnerable to damage due to small rear-end collisions thats so common on our roads, courtesy bikes, scooters taxi's and even blind cows.

+1, VERY WELL SAID GTO. the whole world is stunned by this small wonder

we will look forward for your test drive eagerly. i had taken the car for 1 whole day for test drive. the odo reading was already 10k. i was just amazed by the pick up and drivability of the Nano. in the city i felt as if i am driving a bike. the rear view mirrors, the windows the A pillar everything looks so elegant and stylish. way ahead of small cars we have.
each and every part on the car shouts " Boss i am more costly than what you are paying for me"

voted for the tata nano, simply because of the the space factor. found the rear seat to be more comfortable (with respect to the sitting position) when compared to the alto or the 800.

plus seeing all the hype around, am pretty sure that the resale values wont drop too quickly and would be on par with the current resale values of the 800.

I think this post can go on for as long as Maruti is planning to produce the 800 which as mentioned previously can be till 2100 A.D.
I feel they both have their pro's and their cons , but purely based on experience , I would never want to buy a TATA product , especially a car , so voted the Maruti.

Come on people , dont go with with Nano Hype , stick to the first car you drove and took your girlfriends/boyfriends out in.

Dont forget the old

For the price of MS 800, I would rather buy 2 nanos and make myself an economical Limo and save the 2nd engine for making jeremy's Food blender.

Just got back from a quick Mahabaleshwar - Mumbai drive. Caught a Tata Nano being tested. Man, he was ripping it, though still at 100 kph . You could literally see it bouncing all around the highway at that speed.

Never fails to bring a smile to ones face....a testament to the Nano's place in our hearts.

M800 for me. Though I could sit much more comfortably (the seats were stiff though) in the back seat of Nano, I am told that the engine sounds like a 4 stroke autorickshaw. That's a huge put off for me. It reminds me of TATA Ace, which sounds like a three wheeler. Can't digest it. My vote tilted to M800 also because of its proven engine that goes on and on.

I voted for Nano, for it's practicality and more focused approach on City driving. I never liked driving M800 on highways.

But i won't be buying first gen Nano.
