I will vote for Tata Nano, for city driving; I have been eagerly waiting for tat to launch its Diesel version; but for highway driving my vote goes for Maruti 800.

800 all the way. I saw the nano on-road not what I expected, but I guess its something that will grow on you.

I was in auto the other day and the driver says few months sir after that i will be a taxi driver. He along with many of his peeps have sold their autos made payments for nano. HAHAHA lets see how that turns out.

The TATA Nano is way ahead in terms of space, M 800 is more fun to drive, but that's about it.

I wish the Nano could come with the M 800 engine, that would be really nice.

I also think the same, its really pleasure to drive Tata Nano with 796cc Maruti Suzuki MPFI 3-Cylinder Engine.

800 anyday, I dont want seperate cars for city and highway drives, morever maruti 800 is a proven machinery since ages and the legandary Maruti Service.

15 liters fuel tank in the nano, sheesh.

It's Nano, all the way for me. I am waiting for the European spec Nano, though

Until the Nano comes out & performs, it will always be an illusion. Once cannot compare an illusion with reality. So let's wait & see.

The Nano is funky cool unlike the geriatric and wheezy M800. I hope Maruti doesn't replace the 800 with something similar to the D'Zire, proportionately speaking!. The "nanny" car Esteem looks sleek in comparison to it's replacement!. My vote is for the Nano.

I'm a bit sceptical about the 2 cylinder Petrol engine in the Nano. Having just 2 cylinders might be too coarse.
Atleast 3 cylinders are required for a smoother engine IMO and 800 has it. + for 800

Due to the newer design, I hope Nano's passenger cage will be far more rigid compared to 800. + for Nano.

It will be tough for Nano to match up to the reliability levels of 800. Strongly feel maintenance of Nano will be on the higher side compared to 800.

I know that it is too early to comment as Nano is yet to hit the roads and prove its worthiness, but it is a car that has put India on the global radar. It is really an engineering marvel that showcases India as a Technological power house. Hats off to Tatas for this. My Vote is therefore to Nano.

i vote for 800.. if there was no 800 there wouldn't be a Nano now.
Tata's compare Nano with the 800 which i think is totally lame. If you really want to compare it with the 800 ,compare it with the current gen of the same platform The Astar which i feel is milestones ahead of the nano.

My pick is the humble 800. For the following reasons:

1. It is the known devil.
2. Proven track record
3. Tata Motors' habit of making a guinea pig of the first few customers
4. Possibly, lower running cost
5. Err, to be a bit elitist, image ka bhi sawaal hai

A known devil is better than an unknown angel but, i still think the Nano outshines the M800 atleast in the city. It doesn't compare with the M800 on the highway.

The diesel version of the Nano will make a further dent into MUL's sales.

Nano for me.

I voted for the Nano for couple of reasons,
1: I find it better looking than the 800.
2: Newer technology compared to the 800.
Ofcourse it is too early to talk about reliability and all but i am willing to put my money on Nano being a better car in the long run than the 800.
These are my personal views,i have nothing against he 800 or Maruti.
