C K Birla Group company Hindustan Motors(HM), the makers of the Ambassador, is all set to launch a niche car from the Mitsubishi Motors stable soon in the premium segment.

The new car will be a James Bond-like automobile and it could be launched this year as well if everything goes well. The company is gearing up for the launch of the niche vehicle, hopefully, within this year, for which it is awaiting requisite homologation from ARAI (Automotive Research Association of India). HM says that the new car will fire up Mitsubishi Motors’ portfolio in India

HM is investing Rs 75 crore in its Uttarpara factory for the expansion of its castings and forgings business and to set up an assembly line for the newly launched mini truck ‘Winner’. On Friday, the company reported a higher net loss of Rs 21 crore in the first quarter of 2009-10.

when you say james bond do you mean AM?/MG?/BMW?

James Bond also drove a Citroen 2CV

However i can't recollect Bond driving a Mitsubishi.

Is this HM's way of calling the EVO a "James Bond" car ? Otherwise how can it fire up Mitsu's portfolio if the car is being designed by HM themselves.

It could be a DC designed sporty looking body shell on the evergreen Contessa chassis Knowing HM and its ways!! Late inspiration from all the modified contessas a decade+ back.

Well the good old Amby has been kept going till today by company of James Bond / Superman / Spiderman / Tarjan and GOD.

James Bond could use a car as quick as the EVO X :D :D. Yeah yeah, I know...my expectations are way too high. Just the fact that its from the Mitsubishi Motors stable points toward the EVO or the new Lancer.

Buttttttttttttttttttttt after HM has done such a good job of marketing the Great Driving Challenge, which wise guy came up with this "James Bond" line?

I dont get a thing from this. What a stupid press release to keep the people speculating!!. Premium segement does it mean Segment of BMW/MERC? or Premium segment in hatch like jazz? Or a premium sedan? Or a Premium SUV?. I really dont get it

However, i think the article is referring to the EVO. Unless they plan to bring in the lancer, which is highly unlikely IMO.

A james Bond like car is more targetting towards the Eclipse. James Bond hardly drove 4-door cars. But Evo is supposed to be the next launch.

HM also is the only company to have the highest number of on paper launches. Gallant, New lancer, all new car etc etc.
