Honda City AT discontinued for 3 months!

I called up a Honda dealer in Delhi, for purchasing a ANHC AT and to my surprise, the salesman I talked to, said the AT model is discontinued and that a new AT model with a complete different dashboard, music player and other changes would be available in 3 months time. So, instead the salesman was pitching for the MT model. Any substance in this story?

A new variant for the City is supposedly in the pipeline. There are now 3 months+ waiting periods for both the Civic and the City at the dealership here. You can get cars currently in the stockyards in Cochin and TVM, but that's it.

What is the story behind a new and improved City AT. They just launched it last year. Perhaps, new and improved could mean a higher price. Perhaps Honda could also launch the Jazz AT and price it a significant lower price than City AT.

Yes a higher price band and few improvements like adding alloys and fog lamps. Not too sure about any interior change.

There is no justice in this world by the time you drive out of Showroom and get your first scratch on the car it is already outdated , as there is a new & improved model out in the market .

Improved interior trim and plastics will mean higher price. It is a major cost to the vendor's and to Honda and knowing Honda they are not going to absorb the costs.

I feel more features and better plastics is going to be an excuse for Honda to hike up the prices to create a bigger gap between Jazz and City so that neither of them canniblize each other sales.

Now Honda shall price the Jazz AT at 9 lacs, New improved ANHC at 10 to 11 lacs and the new Civic shall be launched at 13-15 lacs.
No value add from honda comes without an increased price tag.
And people would still lap up the cars at these prices.
City selling at around 3000 cars a month.
Imagine the improved City competing with Altis price wise and the Honda Salesman saying "Honda is Honda"

Honda is making 600 cars in Sept (AT version) - so I don't think there is any truth in the salesman story that the production of the AT has been dis-continued.

Minor cosmetics changes are coming for sure.

We joked about the First anniversary edition of the ANHC when it was launched. I guess we know pretty well how Honda plan their launches in India.

So no alloy wheels? Again?

Prices are going to go through the roof if all these upgrades are implemented as described in Sid's post. Civic as well as City. I will be totally shocked if Honda doesn't hike the prices. Shocked, but glad.

The updated G3HC will cost more, which IMHO will be a ridiculous option then. Already the car is overpriced and they will come up with cosmetic upgrades and ask for more money. I feel that the the Indian customers are cheated.

About the Civic, the thread title is misleading. Its not new, but upgraded or minor cosmetic upgrade Civic. As soon as I read new Civic, I thought that it is next generation Civic news as the new one is expected and rumored to be testing abroad. In India the current Civic is losing sales to Altis which is a great VFM buy.
I request mods to change the thread title and include " Upgraded Civic " instead of " new Civic ". That new is quite misleading.
