Ex-showroom Mumbai
City 1.5 S MT : Rs. 884,200
City 1.5 V MT : Rs. 931,400
City 1.5 V AT : Rs. 1,007,000

10L + for City, this is just ridiculous pricing

Delhi prices seem a bit lower, but the s &V versions cost 70K extra. Thus, the top end costs 10.24 lakhs ex-showroom or around 11.4 on road. I paid 12+ lakhs for a Corolla in early 2007 which also included auto AC (and not knobs as in Honda City??). Honda's management has really taken leave of their senses, and want their high fixed costs to be spread over (definitely) fewer customers.

I guess, Hyundai, SX4 and Fiesta will receive a boost from this `insane' pricing. No Honda in my future now perhaps.

I feel very lucky in this regard. In Punjab,
City 1.5 S MT : Rs. 841,000
City 1.5 V MT : Rs. 886,000
City 1.5 V AT : Rs. 9,58,000

and RC cost is around 2.3%. So, even V AT is under 10L.

As I earlier said V=50,000 in addition to S , its more VFM.
I think next year, S would be discontinued and then they will introduce SV Type(as in Thailand) along with V.

One nice upgrade I noticed is, the steering wheel is now wrapped with perforated leather.

Yeah; they will then hold a contest - spot the 5 differences between V & SV variant (one of that will be chrome V badge, and the other a silver finish knob for the blower speed), and the winner will get a free car. Rest of the buyers will buy it for couple of more lakhs than what they will have to pay if they buy now.

Ofcourse, the dealer will say: sar, buy now itself as the prices will go up when the next face lift comes. I am sure the public will rush to get the V-version of NANHC with Chrome handles.

10lakh worth car C-segment and no leather seats even - has leather wrapped steering wheel it seems

I sincerely hope that Hyundai/Ford have some good tricks up their sleeves and they launch some strong alternatives to the City in this segment. I love Honda cars but the way they are pricing their cars I would be more than happy to see them fall flat on their faces. Like the Jazz did.

I still think, they will sell more cars in north India because Honda as a brand is very much on the head of people here and Honda knows that.
One must read Economic times for what Honda think of Indian costmoer.

Looks good

keeping the prices and the what needed to be there in the first place comments aside. City new new city V looks good. The soft touch interiors look nice.

A Yahoo news
So, Honda will leave nothing to milk Indian costomers.

Honda Dealers say : Sir, Expected price increase was 55,000. Honda increased price of 45,000 in addition to S for V. So, you can buy Honda Genuine Leather seats for 5000(PU) or 8000(better quality)

Nothing will happen even if Hyundai / Ford introduce car in that segment. For Indians, HONDA= Status Symbol
and Hyundai/Ford= VFM.
& most of Indians go for Status Symbol

(same engine as the erstwhile Octavia RS) Octavia sells only because of its Diesel Engine. Its petrol engine hardly sells. Even high cost of maintenance of Skoda.

Mitsubishi Cedia Spirit: 10.60 lacs - Discounts Interiors & Exteriors are not up to the mark.

Chevrolet Optra 1.6 LT: 10.17 lacs - Eternal Discounts Very Bad Petrol Engine. Very poor FE.

Chevrolet Optra 2.0 TCDi LS: 10.03 lacs - Eternal Discounts Good engine but doesn't sell because of GM's image.

So, City 09 is the Clear WInner.

I have Oct 02 Autocar Mag. It says:
1.3 Dx: 6.84L
1.5Exi: 8.08L
1.5Exi AT: 8.70L
1.5Vtec: 9.06
(All Prices Ex-Showroom Delhi). (1.3was 90Bhp,1.5 was 100Bhp and Vtec was 106Bhp)
And Today's Prices: (Today's 1.5 iVtec is 116 Bhp)
1.5 iVtec S: 8.37L
1.5 iVtec V: 8.82L
1.5 iVtec AT: 9.54L

Now compare the Prices. So, Think:"Is Honda really pricing City Wrong?"
