Whatever happened to the Ford Ecosport thread?

I am still unable to open it.

Have not been able to open the Ford EcoSport thread for over a week now.
Keep getting the following msg:

Wonderful news. Hopefully a confirmed timeline to work with!
But is there any official statement by Ford India?

The waiting is really testing my patience!
If they don't launch the EcoSport by AutoExpo now then I will probably just end up buying something else !!

Ford is unveiling the Ecosport at the Autoshow. But, the Ecosport will go on sale only by mid 2012!

What!? Are you sure of this, who's the source? I was under the impression all along that the Ecosport is ACTUALLY getting launched, and not just showcased, at the expo! Where's Mr. Mustang.101 when you need him? S.O.S. Him, someone!
Somehow with time it appears there are hardly any actual, worthwhile launches happening at the auto expo this time. What a shame!

There isn't a definitive source Abhi. But the following factors suggest so -
1. Ford has always showcased its future product much ahead of its actual launch - Remember the Figo & Fiesta story?
2. Nobody has caught a EcoSport test mule in India thus far!
3. Fiesta underwent lot of testing in India and the car's test mule was spotted several times even before the unveil.
4. Ford India spokesperson has clearly mentioned they will be "unveiling" their next product during the Auto Expo, not launch it

^^Well, the unveiling and delayed launch approach worked big time for the Figo, but failed miserably in case of the new Fiesta. IMHO, there is only key parameter which will determine the fate of the product – pricing. Hope Ford has learned from the Fiesta experience.

Then it seems both the Ecosport and Duster will be available at pretty much the same time. Perhaps they will be playing a game of chicken to see who announces the pricing first in order to take advantage of that!

Any guess on the pricing of Eco Sport? I feel that if it is correctly priced, it should do good numbers in terms of sale.

I guess base model diesel will be priced somewhere around 6.49 Lacs... (basically <6.5 lacs).

Given that duster is launching between 7-9 lacs, and is a bigger vehicle, must prompt Ford to ensure minimal overlap (model to model difference >50k) for it to be a runaway success.

The Mustang doesn't come in right hand drive, IIRC. It'd be nice to have this legendary American car here, though. Sigh!

I dont think so. Though both the EcoSport and the Duster would be SUVs costing less than 10 lakhs, they have very different target groups. IMHO the Duster would aim to grab the attention of a space concious, practicality seeking customer, for whom Brand image isn't a real big concern. While the Ford EcoSport is more for the style conscious urban dwelling customer, who doesn't need a true off roader.
So, though pricing is a key factor deciding the fate of both these SUVs, I feel the pricing of one might not have a major effect on the other
