Ford India's future line up

Here are some details on Ford India's future line up:

1. Ford Fiesta Sedan (based on new European Fiesta already being sold in Chinain Sedan version). Expected launch in 2011. Will be priced above current Fiesta and below Honda Civic !!

2. Current Fiesta replacement - Expected in 2013-14

3. Current Endy replacement - Expected 2012-13

4. New small car based on the earlier European Fiesta will be launched in Feb-March 2010. Looks will be very similar to the renderings already available in some other forum post/Autobild story.

3 Questions:
Will the current fiestas price be cut like they did to the ikon?
What about the Ikon? Where does that go?
Any Source for the information?

I don't understand why they want to sell us the old Fiesta hatch when the next generation is already out in the West.

I expect the new small car to replace the Ikon. I dont think they can symbiotically co-exist in the same price segment.

If they are really serious they should bring their new lineup with the ecoboost engine - SHO could be a good start to that end.

I have a feeling they might bring in a premium hatch to compete against the Punto/I20 et al

The Focus RS would be their best bet in that case.

The future line up seems really sad. Ford will lose the plot if they proceed like this.

I don't think it will be launched in 2011. The small car is expected in 2011. New Fiesta should be here in 2010. To be honest, 2011 will be too late to salvage the Fiesta.

Also, the pricing above the current Fiesta and under the Civic means that the Focus will not be launched here?

So the current Fiesta will co-exist alongwith the new one? How do they plan to flog the current one till 2013?

How will the hatch based on the current Fiesta compete with new age cars like Punto, Polo, i20?

Looking at these future plans, I think Focus will never be launched in India.

Fiesta sedan based on the New Fiesta hatch will take the price higher, and will make it difficult for Ford to sell in India. Afterall it still retains the same wheelbase and limited interior space.

Think they should bring in the Focus sedan after the small car launch as the action is shifting to the upper C / C+ segment.

I dont think this information is true, the Endy is supposed to come in in another 15-20 days. Most importantly Ford (like many others) is working on an affordable small hatch which can give them volume.

This seems to be a five year plan, what with models planned upto 2014. Do we actually care about models to be introduced 5 years later? And pretty sad ones at that!

The latest Focus RS retails at about 25k GBP in UK and sports a 2.5 litre Volvo engine. So even if it comes, it would be on a CBU route. I feel if Ford intends to bring a small car, then it has to be the "Ka" or the European "Fiesta" hatchback. Or they just might bring the Focus with a puny heart

Small car s getting launched in Feb - March 2010 and not 2011. Take my word for it.

Yes, no Focus as of now

Prob they will name the new Fiesta something else

The target segement for them is i10 not i20

What Ford will launch in a few days is the "refreshed" Endy. What I mentioned about Endy replacement is a completely new platform that will be shared by Ford and Mazda.

This info is from reliable sources. Sorry I cannot reveal from where i got it
