And if they get the car before the launch of Duster, quite possible that Duster will bite the dust!

Oh yes, completely agree. And even worse is, after all those secrecy, they come up with a compromised product – e.g.; Fluence, New Fiesta.
I don't blame them for their actions, actually.

They do believe that the Indian market is growing, but is no where near as mature as some other markets. We can't call our market a mature one, when cars like the Golf and the Focus (hatch) are considered to be a waste of money, just because they're hatchbacks at 15 lakhs. We can't consider ourselves a mature market when Toyota tries to sell an 'Indian-spec' sub-standard car, like the Etios, and speak so much about quality.

In perspective, our market is still a little child in the womb. There is tremendous potential for growth. It's one thing having potential. It's another thing converting that potential into results.

Fiesta-based crossover (CUV) being extensively tested in the US -

I have a strong feeling this will be headed to India soon.

Re: Ford India's future line up

Almost like a mini Kuga. And a bit of the Diahatsu Terios too. Looks a bit under-tyred for a compact SUV. The Fiesta parked next to it seems to ride on similar size tyres.

Re: Ford India's future line up

I like the stance. We need a car like this. Bring it Ford?

OT - In the 5th pic, the Fiesta hatch looks weird with different set of alloys in the front and rear

Re: Ford India's future line up

This is exactly the sort of car India needs at the moment.

Compact for city driving: Check

Diesel engine: Check (I'm sure)

Good GC: Check

Good quality: Check

It's only the after-sales-service and resale that needs to improve IMO.

I know, right?

I don't seem to understand this waiting game by them either. I mean, there is a market for their cars, they have quality products, and there is a huge fan following for Fords in India. So what's the problem? Why are they taking their own sweet time to introduce new cars in India? Is it because some of their cars flopped and they're hurt by it?

Re: Ford India's future line up

they are just too slow overall
and very lazy to adapt to new circumstances
I cant believe they would be hurt or anything because no manufacturer can afford to be emotional about their marketing strategies!

Looks like the 2012 Ecosport that we discussed sometime back.
Lets hope 2012 if it has to be that late, be the year of Cross Overs!

The launch is welcome this festive season. IMO, it is to pull customers away from the Fortuner rather than the XUV. Endeavour is in a completely different segment to affect the lower segment, particularly when the difference in OTR is about 9 lakhs.

Re: Ford India's future line up

I thought the changes were only cosmetic, but reading the article linked above, I see that the limited edition comes with an AWD! Most likely with the AT box. Fortuner, watch out!

Anyways, I still remain a fan of the pre-2009 model the true butch HURRICANE!!!

I am already enquiring with local dealers for that nudge bar, chrome exhaust and footwell lighting for my Endy.

EDIT: That article is wrong. The new Endy does NOT come with an AWD. I just verified this at india.ford.com. The 5 speed AT box that's on the current 3.0L is present on the new edition as well.

Re: Ford India's future line up

So the next step for Ford will most definitely be the New Ford Fiesta AT with 6 speed dual clutch transmission which Ford calls the Power Shift! This new automatic is faster aw well as more fuel efficient than the manual version, according to reports from USA, where this AT has been launched already.

Consider me a strong prospect Ford, if that's the case. And, please price it well.

Cheers,

Already posted in the official Ford Fiesta Review thread - http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/offici...review-83.html

Yes it will be a welcome addition, although the pricing could take it over the roof. I can't see the petrol AT priced below 10L, and the diesel AT (if it comes) any less than 11L, which will be a staggering price to pay.
