Re: New compact SUV from Premier Auto. EDIT: Rio quick testdrive on page 10

Are there any upgrades for the interiors as well? Or any complete overhaul of the interiors? But Premier, please don't plaster the interiors with beige please !

Re: Spied: Premier Rio 2 (facelift)

Now that the looks is getting positive reviews from all the posts above, The 1.3 MJD with variable geometry turbo producing 90 PS, Good interiors done in black with silver finish highlights, ABS, airbags, and a competitive price backed by good A.S.S. would work wonders for the car now!

Depends on what Premier orders from Zotye.

Nomad II comes with beige interiors:

Re: Spied: Premier Rio 2 (facelift)

Guys,

This topic is already being discussed in this thread below.
http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/indian...e-10-a-24.html
I am guessing both the vehicles are same, based on the recent post in both thread.

Not sure if we have to digress the topic and discuss it at two places.

Mods: request you to merge the thread if both are same vehicles.

If Maruti did a similar car with the MJD, it would have sold like hot cakes, it's becasue of Premier brand the car is not selling, personally I would like to own a car of this size and height, maybe a little wider would look even better.

Re: New compact SUV from Premier Auto. EDIT: Rio quick testdrive on page 10

My mother still has her 20 year old shares of Premier and she received last year's annual report today. Here is what it has to say about Rio:
the company has refurbished the RiO with a new interior. Also, a RiO Euro-IV compliant petrol version has been developed and is under homologation and road tests. It is expected to be launched in June 11. The company is also working on a new CRDi, diesel engine to make RiO Euro-IV compliant. This is expected to be launched by August 11.

Note that they have spelt it as RiO and not Rio throughout the report.

Re: New compact SUV from Premier Auto. EDIT: Rio quick testdrive on page 10

just took a test drive of the RiO in Kolkata. The showroom guys had brought the car to my friend's office where both of us were waiting for it.

quite frankly i did not dislike the vehicle. The sales rep was telling us that a CRDI engine is going to be launched before the festive season. In the current iteration the engine is about the only thing that did not excite me. Otherwise, it is a okay car. If it comes with a CRDI engine, I really might consider it given that it has high ground clearance, SUV'ish feeling and the top end model comes with ABS, stereo, and all the other goodies. I did also ask the sales rep if 4x4 is ever going to be considered, he promised he will ask the company and give me an answer.

Now waiting for the CRDI to come, if it comes, I might take the plunge.

Re: New compact SUV from Premier Auto. EDIT: Rio quick testdrive on page 10

Premiers other businesses seem to be doing pretty well considering how they are putting the money down on the RiO.

The first thing they need to take care of is the interior quality. It is ages below what Indica had in its first generation.

What Common rail unit will they be using? Renault or Fiat ?
Ditto for petrol.

11th august is gone and neither models have seen the light of the day.

Saw this Rio on last Sunday, probably the first Rio in kochi. My second sighting in Kerala. Saw a copper red colored one in Trivandrum a month back.

Premier Rio Mini SUV to get a petrol engine and a CRDI Diesel engine shortly: Official Word Out! | IndianCarsBikes.in

A new look of the Rio is shown here.

Also they have speculated based on the annual report that the engine can be the Fiat Multi-jet and that a petrol BS-IV engine will also be provided for a lesser price.

Re: New compact SUV from Premier Auto. EDIT: Rio quick testdrive on page 10

there was an advert in today's TOI in pune on Rio

the factory is on my way to office, so dropped by this morning to check out

they had both petrol and diesel on display and available for test drives

both petrol and diesel top end figures for around 7 lakh

test drove the diesel top end and here is my feedback

1. looks good from the outside, but just manages to be decent from inside
2. took a rather long crank to start (this was a brand new vehicle, so this was certainly no malfunction, it behaved they way it is designed)
3. gear shift is too buttery, and the throw is long, made me uncomfortable, but got the hang of it quickly
4. operating the a/c knobs reminded me of the a/c knobs of after market fitment in old ambassador and fiats
5. operating front power window switch also gave a feeling similar to operating the a/c knob
6. seats ok, but not even close to the standard expectation these days (compared to even a wagon R for that matter)
7. power ok, but not peppy (drove inside the factory premises, so have limited exposure)
8. view of the engine under the bonnet gave me the feeling of old premier padmini diesel engine, the hose pipes did not look as it would last more than few years
9. high ground clearance
10. ingress is not as easy as wagon R
11. rear wheel drive
12. not monocular, but chassis based

i felt as if I am driving/seating in a elevated poor country cousin of a wagon R, nothing more (no, I have never owned a wagon R, I own a MUV)

~ factory currently produces 40 units a day, peak line capacity is 80 units a day
~ no dealer in Pune as yet
~ diesel is Euro 3, so u have to go to a RTO where they don't demand Euro 4

overall, looks are attractive(thanks to diahtsu) but technically weak, looks to be a half hearted job

really could not find a reason, why I would want to buy it, although lookwise it still looks attractive to me

Re: New compact SUV from Premier Auto. EDIT: Rio quick testdrive on page 10

Yesterday on my way to work, just on entering Cenotaph Road, I find myself behind a cute looking mini-SUV and was surprised to see that it is the Rio. Surprised because the reviews were not good, but the car looked cute. If only it were a Suzuki !!!

Nice looks

Re: New compact SUV from Premier Auto. EDIT: Rio quick testdrive on page 10

^^^I meant if Suzuki had a similar sized and good looking mini-SUV with a 1.3D engine, it would have been a good option for me. Buying a Premier is not really a risk I would take.
