this is what i found on wikipedia

The '''Zotye 2008''' is a small 5 door SUV produced by an offshoot of the Zhejiang Tech-New Group called Zotye Auto in Zhejiang, China.
The car is named in honour of the 2008 Beijing Olympics and also goes by the model project number XS6402. Although it has been alleged that the car is a blatant copy of the Daihatsu Terios which has been made in China as the Huali Dario and by the Anhui Anchi Motor firm, and it has been noted that whilst the front treatment of the grill differs considerbly the rear of the car is nearly identical, the presses for the body panels and associated parts were in fact purchased from Daihatsu - Daihatsu Motor Co., Ltd., Japan, in 2006 when DMC launched the new generation Terios. Engine designs were not purchased from DMC. The Zotye 2008 uses a range of Mitsubishi-derived fuel-injected 4-cylinder engines dubbed 4G13 and 4G15, 1.3L (108Nm) and 1.5L (134Nm) resp.
It has also some modifications in the salon, roof cover, wheels, and the engine.

on the other hand, the Peugeot 209 GLD was a heck of a performer - tough as nails and solid.
bad service and bad marketing killed it

there is a clear pic on wiki - i ve lifted it off and plugged it into a previous post - sans the ugly additional external accessories in that pic, the vehicle looks quite functional and normal, if a bit boxy and old-gen. it certainly doesnt have the sweeping streamlined looks of the new gen vehicles but iam sure it will be a functional sort of vehicle all the same, for a certain consumer segment anyway.

Sx4 is also sold as Fiat Cedici in many European countries as a hatch back.

A dated looking Chinese made copy with an antique engine? It'd probably fall apart in ten kilometers of driving. The SX4 hatch on the other hand looks like it could succeed.

The car looks like a mini Chevy Tavera with a Sonalika Rhino like headlights, the front treatment is ugly nonetheless and overall looks dated.
I have my doubts if this will ever pull out Premier out of trouble.

not quite sure about this.
there is a segment who wants a hatch type car. they may also be aspiring to an SUV type vehicle considering the fascination with SUV's.
Diesel power means decent-ish value in terms of running costs.
High GC will certainly help in India.

this may just open up a whole new segment despite it being chinese copied it is still a Daihatsu derivative.

SX4 Hatch / baby SUV in diesel avatar and AWD should certainly succeed - if it is priced this side of Rs 10 lacs it will give the Scorpio and others a serious run for their money.

So, lets see : It's made in China by a new automotive company that in all probability knows nothing about car making, will be sold in India by a brand that has previously duped their buyers, powered by a 20 year old reworked diesel engine which has a turbocharger bolted on by an inexistent R&D department, at a price at which you could get a thoroughly modern Swift / Ritz / i10 / Vista / Punto, be supported by dealerships that don't exist today and the only redeeming quality is that the spare wheel is mounted on the tail gate.

Sure, I see how this will succeed. @ Premier : Please don't waste your time. Import chinese toys or something instead.
