Somebody on the other thread mentioned that the test production has started. Considering that, isn't December - Jan time frame a bit far? Or is it normal process to start test production about 4 months before the launch?

December - January is the latest timeframe for the launch with many sources believed to bet upon a nearer Diwali Launch which fits perfectly with test production.

A good package from TATA and they have included ABS and AirBags finally in their sedan.I hope fit and finish of Indigo would be better than current one.

Thanks sid for the information about the new Indigo. Initially Tata had announced a March 2009 launching, sometime when the Vista was launched last year, around this time. But they seem to have postponed its launch to Dec 2009/ Jan 2010. Perhaps the Nanoaffairs kept them gasping for breath.
It is doubtful as to whether Fiat will part with the 1248cc/90 bhp version of the 1.3 MJD as the USP of the Linea will be diluted! Lets hope the new Indigo gets this engine which will make it a star seller in the lower C (is it now the A 3 ?) segment.

I doubt if Fiat will make that mistake as it will hit linea's sales badly(already its down to 900).

@Ranc- How reliable is that source as Sid has given the date dec09 onwards so thats quiet a difference in both dates!

The source is very reliable, he works for Tata, got talking to him about something else, slipped in the question abt the Xover and he said that is also ready for launch, its just that the two launches will be spaced out so first it will be the Indigo Vista near the Dusherra and then the Xover may be close to Diwali.

If this happens, its great news! A Diwali launch will help its prospects no end. I really do hope they have quality under control though and a less spongy gearbox.

I hope this doesn't turn out like the "new" Santro release. Another "scoop".

@ranc,

Any updates on the launch date?. Eagerly counting each day (and checking TBHP forums every hour for any announcement.

Was planning to buy Indigo CS GLX during this Diwali. Did visit showroom last week to have a look at limited edition. The add ons were welcome but the pearl white color made me decide to not to go for it(red & black are my colors of my choice & in that order). But want to seriously consider Indigo vista if it is announced in next 2-3 weeks.

INDIGO VISTA SEDAN

petrol: 1.4 FIRE engine 90 ps output.
diesel: 1.3 MULTIJET engine 90 PS output, with vgt.

this is confirmed news. not subject to change. the production of the vehicle has started off at fiat's ranjangaon plant. presently operating at 25 cars per day. will go up after the launch.

wow those engines look too good to be true.
But won't that hamper Linea's sales which has same engines?

Its going to be FGT and not vgt. It will be the same engine as vista, palio, punto. May be with a different state of tune

How come TDi engine is not there, I think the TDi engines would have made the whole package more VFM.
