It's time for the detailed pics, test drive and review. What happened to all those who registered in the website? Any response from TATA or dealer yet?

The pricing of the car couldnt have been better . More car per car . Way to go Tata , time to take the fight to Suzuki . I hope it dosent have the now infamous Tata initial niggles and quality issues . The sedan market is up for a major shake up .

What you get is the Car Infotainment, rear demister, front fogs, body coloured handles.

Isn't it too steep a price for these features?

Similarly Aura to Aura (ABS) you pay 25-30k and what you get of note is adjustable lumbar support & ABS in addition to some buzzers and illuminate key-hole.

From Aura (ABS) to Aura + you pay whopping 45-50k for airbags, electrically controlled ORVMs and front seat belt load limiters.

I believe the base variant is very well priced and they are overcharging for the safety features. Overall VFM for sure.

~maniac
Look at it this way, for around 70k more (25k+45k) you get ABS, Airbags, fully Electrically controlled ORVMs, load-limiters and pretensioners on belts, adjustable lumber support, height adjust and not to speak of the other bells and whistles like those steering mounted audio controls, illuminated keyholes, chrome even on door handles etc.

Now for such features just check out how much extra do other manufactures charge. Such features go into some option pack etc. and jack up the prices by 1 lakh or even more in most cases.

I think pricing is pretty fantastic and competitive going by the way others price their cars. Also, do not forget, for a car of this proportion with such loaded features the top end diesel costs around 6.75 lakhs ex-showroom. So obviously they have priced it exceedingly well IMO.

Yeah, that is something that struck me as well. For a sedan of such huge proportions it is a little over the top. I hope ARAI and it's certification does not become a laughing stock in the future. Then it will beat the whole purpose of having them to independently certify the FE of a car. Mind you though, Zigwheels says that their overall FE achieved in this car was around 13.5kpl which by itself is nothing short of fantastic for a huge car like the Manza!

quick question fir the gurus ?

Do all flavours of MJD/Quadrajet/DDis motor have the same service interval of 15k kms (as in Linea) or does it vary the way it is tweaked for a particular car ?

This was a good opportunity for TATA to move to an uppersegment from Indigo class, they should have dropped Indigo name and just offer two premium varients. IndigoXL/CS can focus the taxi segment, MANZA can focus premium segment.

Now the entire TATA sedan portfolio is confusing and it will be tough get sinificant volumes.

Design

Probably the first time TATA Motors has been able to fill the wheel-wells nicely. The 15" tyres and the rims do not have a huge gap with the body (usually the front wheels were the culprits in a Tata car).

The rest of the body shape was dictated by the priorities; namely, rear legroom and boot space. The rear seat has been pushed back to the maximum, which meant that the boot had to look disproportionately large in comparison to the rest of the car (in order to have decent boot space). Like many people said before, the proportions are very similar to the earlier generation Honda City.

It's a good car, whether it'll be a great one depends on how well Tata manages to manufacture it.

360degree view has mirroring issues. you can see the driver side power window switches on both left and the right.

This is a killer pricing, this is a benchmark price for this big sedans
if Manza interior has acceptable plastic quality then this car may pose threat to Dzire.
Tata is raising the bar in every release, hopefully they set benchmark price and acceptable quality in their upcoming SUV / MUV

what everyone wants is acceptable quality, reliability, safety and killer price. this qualities should kick start mass volume of Tata.

waiting for test drive report to see the performance of this car.

Zigwheels did not mention the driving cycle. I assume that its city cycle since the launch was just a couple of hours before they published the article. They must have driven the car immediately after the launch.
