They should stop swift and get on with SX4 hatch and sedan with oil burner options in both .

3) The engine will be updated for US markets and put out 4-5 hp more.

Can you mention the source of information for the news of 1.6 DDiS SX4 ?
They already offer the 1.6ddis, 120ps engine in some markets. And I was told by one of the very senior dealers about the expected engines about 6 weeks back.

The New SX4 will come with Exterior changes - Source CNBC TV18 - Engine options are not disclosed. Also a Van Model is expected from Maruti next month.

The only reason SX4 is without diesel option is because Maruti Suzuki doesn't has Fiat's permission for manufacturing 1.6 ddis engine ( which maruti plans for SX4). As Linea competes with SX4, Fiat plans that engine first in Linea and afterwords in SX4.

Maruti is not happy with it but cannot do anything about it. Talks have been going on but Fiat is adamant that 1.6L will be first in Linea.

The Old Vehicles will be allowed. The rules will apply to the Manufacturer from April' 2010. So, they cannot sell BSIII vehicles in Major Cities.

Let me know, why they should stop Swift? Just because some other manufacturers cannot compete with Swift's popularity? After all, Swift is the undisputed leader in the B+ segment, where others like Getz, U-VA etc just failed to reach a 4-digit sales number!

There is a 1.6L diesel for SX4 in Europe but it's from Peugeot and not Fiat. The engine has 90ps and 215Nm torque.

Confirmed news for the SX4 is that its coming with the VVTi head for the existing M-series engine, and probably some minor face lift to keep up with the international model(sedan), but there is no news of a diesel version nor the better looking Hatch.

Yes I fail to understand why the hatch is not being introduced in India . I am in Canada for the last 6 days and I find the hatch so popular here. In my earlier trip to China as well, I found the same. The hatch looks so good and along with the 143 BHP engine, it is really an awesome vehicle.

What is there to expect?

5 bhp more is exactly what the 1.6 vvt sold overseas produces. (107)

Dont think so that, the 1.6 MJD will make it's way into the SX4, why would FIAT want to screw itself by giving the Engine to Maruti, it would be a suicidal move by them as it could kill Linea.

Not necessarily! IIRC the Swift DDIS was launched before the Palio MJD.

Sorry for the massive OT, but, what is the big deal about K-series engine when compared to the M-series?
