A 5 speed box would have been more apt. 4 speed boxes are old now. I never understood why the Altis comes with a 4 speeder either when a car like the City priced significantly lower has a better 5 speed tranny.

I dont see Honda being worried about an SX4 with a new petrol engine or AT. Put a diesel into the equation. That would make for excitement in the segment. And yes we already have the Verna diesel AT.

The Petrol Variant will have 106 bhp, VVT Engine and BSIV Compiant. Diesel - there's still no news.

Wishlist 9 ?

The factory alloys of SX4 are one of the best looking things, (unless you like chrome plated blings - which will never happen)

Hello,
Interesting reading, Yes the SX-4 lacked bite with the existing petrol engine. Good that there are plans to roll out the Diesel which will give it more ammunition. Just hope that they roll out SX4 Diesel the same way as Swift Diesel(the overall packaging). Should be a better plan if they are coming with a 1.6 DDIS or 1.9 MJT. The combination would be too good considering the extraordinary road presence SX-4 has.
Cheers,
Mahesh Kora

Couldnt agree more.

I think the alloys look awesome.

I have just bought the SX4 Zxi a week back, having waited the best part of 6 months for something like this to happen, never got a hint somewhere.

This discussion reminds me of a scoop by Sidindica in May2009.

He had said
"SX4-petrol M series to get VVT tech (variable valve timing) (code: M16A VVT) in march 2010. SX4 DDIS expected in june 2010 with 1.6 DDIS engine with 110 bhp"

Now let us wait for a few weeks and see which of these becomes a reality.

Hope maruti comes with better quality interiors in the new SX4! I doubt whether SX4 can be a competition to City at any point of time if both are priced similarly [petrol]. Personally i prefer a honda anyday to a maruti at the similar price point. If SX4 diesel is priced close to City, i do see some shares taken by SX4.

Items that need to be fixed in the SX4 apart from the new VVT engine.

1. Rear seat design for middle passengers. This was fixed in between but the middle portion of rear seat is still not flat.
2. Better plastics.
3. Softer ride. The ride is just too hard and needs a bit of softening up.

They really should at look at getting the 1.3DDIS with VGT and ~85PS power. That will have avg performance but superb FE.

My Wishlist for New Sx4:
  1. Super silent engine at 4000 plus rpm band.
  2. Improve overall plastic quality.
  3. Sporty front bumper and new net front grill. (akin to international model).
  4. Replace JK Vectra tyre in Zxi.
  5. Arm Support for driver (atleast) and co passenger.
  6. Lumbar support for front seat.
  7. Dual headlamp, shift the blinkers to extreme ends.
  8. Improve the internal display system, add some other feature.
  9. Change the five spoke alloy or atleast give optional upmarket alloys.
  10. Provide some wood veneering in central console and side handle.
  11. Provide parking sensor.
  12. Provide some more exciting colors, present options are literally aged.
  13. Launch all white limited sports edition (one displayed in Auto Expo Delhi 2008)
  14. An all wheel drive hatchback can work in India, many diehard gypsy fans don't have compact alternative at present
  15. ...
lots more, but at the moment I can recall only above, Hope somebody from MSIL read my wish list.
+2
do something on the rear seat design to accommodate 3 adults.

I agree. The protrusions on the seat along with the exaggerated transmission tunnel make it a torture for even a medium sized adult to be seated in the middle.

I had two TD of SX4 before booking Fiat Linea 1.4 petrol Emotion Pack FTA. I found that notwithstanding climate control, ac was not effective for the rear bench seats. MID was limited to external temperature and time. MSIL should provide rear ac vents and MID including average/instantaneous FE, CC, etc.

Maruti will relaunch SX4 within a fortnight with a new 1.6-litre engine which will have a much higher pick-up. It will be more expensive than the current top-end Zxi variant, which comes at Rs 7.5 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).

Maruti will also rope in Bollywood star John Abraham as the new brand ambassador for the sporty model to arrest falling sales.

I have been planning to replace my 4 year old SWIFT with a new SX4 next year. Glad that the SX4 is undergoing some changes.

If there be a SWIFT variant with a 1.6 VVT, then I will prefer that over SX4. Or even a SX4 hatch will be good as well.

I had almost bought SX4 two weeks ago. Good I did not. Else I would've been thinking that I got an outdated model.
