The Octavia would have sunk faster than a flooded ship if it wernt for the 1.9 TDi engine. The 2.0 was yawningly boring, while the RS is a niche.

Toyota are going to make cosmetic changes to the Corolla like Corolla Altis, which will be sold from 2006 I believe.

Yes, of course. I meant that they should launch a diesel variant of the Corolla.

In all probabilities, those days might also not be very far. Rember that GM still has access to Fiat's JTD? Just imagine what a car Optra would be with such an engine!

Diesel Corolla will be a good move but not the Innova engine. Thats a truck engine used in Hilux pickups.
There is a Corolla diesel sold in Europe with a D4-D engine that would be a good fit. Toyota has never been the company to follow market trends and try to do their own thing.

While they are at it, it would be nice if Toyota gave the Corolla a better suspension setup.

Any news on Toyota coming out with Corrola Diesel?
I am waiting to change my car, and would love to invest in a corrola Diesel.

The jetta has a diesel, skoda already is diesel, wander why doesn't toyota nail the competition with a diesel variant?
same goes for Honda. they could use a city diesel variant.

+1 to your post, sriramv.iyer.
dragstar opened a five year old thread for the query. Its kinda funny that the new version(read Altis) is there still the launch of a diesel variant is nowhere in sight.

Likely to be out in next 2-3 months IS TRUE
Even the Bangalore Dealer said this. He had an idea, but wasn't willing to tell about the Engine cc & price though

And I thought Mitsubishi is the only lazy Japanese carmaker who just sleeeeeps in deep slumber ignoring public feedback.

I know this thread died a few years ago. thought i'd check if anyone would wanna talk about it again.
Have been hearing the 2-3 months since more then 10 months. Anyway heard they have a 1.4 or 1.6cc diesel. which i feel would be insufficient considering the size and class plus the competition.
