Polo sedan is sold in China, Brazil and other small markets. Shares the entire chassis with Fabia.

Cool. Looks like VW is pretty serious about India.
I thought the creator of this thread said that there were two sedans and a hatch. But the photo does not have a sedan. If you have taken a photo of the sedan, can you please post it?

I too have a positive feeling about this car.

So then the earlier newspaper reports of a Jetta being launched to challenge the C segment at 7-9L price range, is possibly wrong.

It will be the Polo sedan. Now this makes sense.

Polo sedan in the C/C+ segment. Jetta similar to Laura prices, and Passat similar to Superb prices.

Am currently in China

Polo Classic is the sedan version

New Jetta is pretty popular out here and is becoming a popular taxi now.

My take is that a new Polo is due since it will use the new Fabia platform hence economies of scale to lower costs. don't be surprised if bits come from China.

Skoda is facing the problem in China that VW will face in India. Brand identity - lots of adverts but not seen a skoda out here

The Polo's in the pic have Wolfsberg plates

Well it seems that the VW Polo/Sedan has been on sale in China for a while now. The rear looks a bit bland, but overall a good package.

Have a look. Shanghai-VW Release new Polo Jinqu & Polo Jingqing - China Car Forums

But the one that really caught my eye?

Shanghai-VW CrossPolo spotted - China Car Forums

VW India, what say..plonk in a nice diesel and price it at Fusion levels...?

@ IMP - The date is correct. It was shot long back. I had posted the same soon after i got the pics. But it was rejected by mods dont know why. Today i saw this thread & felt like posting it again.

A similar one also posted along with it was also rejected.

It will be interesting to see the positioning of the VW models with respect to the corresponding Skoda cars. In all probability there will be a redefining of tradition. Either downward positioning of the respective Skoda cars or equal positioning of the VW cars.

In anycase, if the positioning of the VW cars are still kept higher without re-positioning the Skoda's, wonder if they really get to generate the numbers.

Saw three Polos. 2 sedans badged Polo Classis, one was a 1.9 TDI and one was a 1.6, presumably a petrol. The hatch was a 1.2, again presumably a petrol. The sedans are around the size of the Fiesta, and the interiors are identical to the hatch. They remind me of the Getz. All three were SB registration, which is Saarbrucken.

There was a new Passat on MH temporary plates, also a part of the convoy. Jay has pictures of the whole lot.

So if the Polo 1.9Tdi sedan is launched, we will probably get the same engine as the Octy, in a lighter & smaller car at a lower price ? FE would probably be better than the Octy & with Pete's it's also going to be a stonker !

Since no Jetta has been sighted - it makes me wonder. Could it be, that the Octy is discountinued. The Laura retained at a slightly lower price. And the 8-11L segment is catered to by VW ?

OT - v1p3r, your avatar had me fooled more than once ! I keep trying to swat the fly

This is what I saw. BTW the Jetta is called the Sagitar (!!!!) in China. Jetta is reserved for the old Golf 2 based version
