Regarding the high fuel efficiency of the 1.2 CRDI, it sounds great, but I am wondering if the figures mentioned on the German site (where the 1.2 is part of the 'BlueMotion' model) is for the engine alone, or the overall package including start-stop etc.

If it is for the CRDI engine by itself then it is impressive, if it is for the overall package I don't think it is anything special in the Indian context where we will only get the engine, if the FE difference is just 1-2 kmpl over the MJD, the refined peppy 4-cyl is going to mean that Ritz/Vista/Swift/Punto etc are more VFM, and add the Figo to the mix as well.

Bluemotion is the package. We will be getting only the engine I think. And high profile tyres (as part of rough road package!!) So we should not expect hugely flattering FE numbers.

I think i will wait for 6 more months. Looking at all these new technologies coming, little bit apprehensive. Especially after Fabia petrol disaster where they ended up saying spurious petrol. What is QA for then?

Anyways, hoping to see some unbiased reviews in team-bhp and not depend on the "paid" reviews.

5.3 m turning radius is ridiculous. Many sedans don't have such big turning radius.
Taking U turns in cramped cities like Bangalore will be a nightmare.

LMAO. Man, i cannot park Polo near my house then. 5.3M turning radius. Wow. I think there is some confusion here. Wonder how it won the COTY award.

Just by going with General Knowledge and applying some logic

Dec 12th - Polo Production starts. It has a capacity of 120,000 per year which is 10000 cars per month. And knowing it is shared between Polo and Fabia. Applying simple logic which equates to around 5000 Polos per month.

So by March 12th, VW will have 20000 Polo's in Dealer network ready to be delivered? Are they expecting such a HUGE demand? Well, in India getting such high numbers may not be possible. Do they need sucha hUGE inventory to start delivering?

Any ideas? Is the launch still March or will there be a preponement?

Wake Up SID! I need scoops of Baskin Robbins.

Capacity of 120 000 = when running at full capacity, when all resources are employed, ie the max that can be produced.

I don't think they are producing 20 000 polo's for March. More like 3-4000.

14 days indeed, I hope the car meets all our expectations

VW has set a target of about 25,000 for the hatchback for 2010 (read it in edmunds.com) and about 25,000 for the Polo sedan. That's about 2,000 monthly for the hatchback.

I called up VW dealership in Ahmedabad. They have started booking of VW Polo. Booking amount is 51,000/-. They are confirming 1.2mpi engine.. same as fabia but they do not have any clue about other engines or trim levels. Delivery is promised in the month of March.

Whoa. So some confirmation on the engine. Atleast one of them. VW is doing a good job in keeping everything under wraps so far. I could read info on Beat & Figo here but VW - nada. No confirmation atleast.

thanks for the update rutvij.

I had called the dealer exactly a month back when i read here that Polo booking started. The dealer said it is not actual booking but more of an token advance to be in the line first. And he asked me to call him after Jan 11th. I was thinking it had more to do with Auto Expo ending and VW plans getting clearer.

Yesterday late evening I was caught bang in between a fleet of polos. Six of them. Three in front of me, three behind me. Was quite a sight : One electric blue 1.3 EPack Punto sandwiched between 6 silver VW Polo's

Frankly speaking : the car is NOT AT ALL a looker and does not catch your eye. All the cars I saw had the 1.2 CRDi engine. The dashboard illumination was red.

Great were you able to hear the Engine of the Polo's ? which sandwiched your Punto.

I mean, were the engines as noisy as the fabia ?
