Looks like the Manza effect already in play. I presume of the 2200 odd Fiats sold, Punto would be ~1600 and Linea around 600. That would mean a reduction of around 300-400 for Linea. It will be interesting to see the Manza numbers

YOY or comparing last years sales with this year may make good figures for Financial Analyst but for us car junkies Sequential growth or MOM figures are more important . Fiat's presence last year was only Palio this year they have 2 new models GP and Linea to sell and they not being to sell this and still facing de growth after an initial spurt is not a good new for them . Both cars have great potential and needs to be given a push Similarly Honda was hardly selling any City last at this time due to model phase so everything will show huge increase YOY . Similarly Skoda as far as I remember did not have Superb and Laura TSI last year .
I am really curious about VW's gameplan there sales are barely able to cross triple digit per month and they have plans to lauch a mass market product comparable to Suzuki Swift .In fact there unit sales is less than Audi may be something I can;t understand
In India large part of sales comes from word of mouth where are the mouths for them to say words ?

This is amazing for Honda. In the process of Overpricing Jazz, they have upgraded consumers to the city. Seems the trick has worked for Honda. I believe, conversions from Honda showrooms will be high. A person with a budget of 7-8L entering into a Honda showroom and an intent of buying a Honda in all likelihood ends up buying one, either a Jazz or a city. That's the strength of the brand.

I believe the higher sales of Altis attributes to the following reasons:
1) Many businesses/corporates/hotels/taxi operators prefer the plain look of the Altis, than that of the space aged Civic
2) Back seat comfort, which is very important requirement for #1
3) Better perceived value for money

Cruze has the novelty factor of a new product. Inspite of a great package, I doubt it will severely make any considerable dent on Altis/Civic Sales, because buyers in this segment go for the snobbish/proven products, which have in a Toyota or Honda! It might stablise to few hundreds in the next few months, same fate as the Optra TDCi. However, it may eat up into the Laura TDi sales.

Civic on the other hand,
1) Inspite of 3.5 years in existence (8th gen), it is far ahead in terms of design, ergonomics, build quality, driving pleasure, refinement, engine-technology etc. compared to the competition that were just launched recently.

2) Mostly appeals to the younger generation and enthusiasts.

3) Honda does not sell it to fleet operators, unlike Altis.

Laura - impressive number, but most of sales are for the TDi, and the number might go down due to Cruze

Now Linea is in the same segment of Civic & Altis - comparable monthly sales.

Now I know why Linea was not selling, Size wise it was always from the same segment of Civic and Altis and now selling wise also.

Wish they had not downgraded the engine and interior plastic quality, They would have been selling much more than what they are selling today. By doing this they have actually insulted the brand Linea.

I am surprised at two things:
1. Brand new cars Linea and Punto, with fresh styling and great looks, when coupled with evidently very long list of features are unable to sustain same level of sales even for an year while the rest of the competition is growing.
2. The low cost at the time of purchase, word-of-mouth publicity, Fiat First programme, nothing is enthusing the customers.

Why?

It seems City is the only winner in the Honda hands and I am suprised to see Jazz sales increased by 330 but till very less that their target
