With the requirements you quoted i say it has to be the Swift. Since it has mor efeatures, better performance for the weekend trip and also looks much better Cheers.

Getz anytime

Dear Aseem

Over long trips Getz anytime.
Two simple reasons

1. Large boot space
2. Rear seat comfort.

And I dont want to go into build quality of Hyundai in India but it is far better than Maruti- Specially in terms of components used.
(Owned a Alto Vxi, Maruti 800 and Hyundai Santro)

Funny you mention this. I had told my mother to look at the Swift and she remarked that all Maruti's became ropey after 5 years and referred to my Zen whereas the Santro has aged gracefully. Had to agree on tihs

Please chip in with your views!
When we go for long drive, it is important that the driver should enjoy his driving and have less tiredness compared to the passengers. (Ideally both driver and passenger should enjoy the car)

Bhailog, Please rate your vehicle (Swift/Getz) for Driver and passenger comfort levels...

Skamb...
Thinking on Multiple Options lead to confusion. Confusion delays decision. My teacher advises in this situation. If you dont know what to choose...just follow the crowd. There are very less chances of getting a wrong product....and I chose 'The Swift'

We learn new stuff everyday, and our parents usually know more than what we give them credit for...

Getz is more practical

After evaluating both these vehicles, I prefer getz as it is a more practical car. The proof of the pudding is in the eating. I have booked a Getz (silver) and expecting delivery in next few days.

Pro Getz-> More space, especially boot, smooth engine
Against-> Little pricey. Hyundai is exporting lots of these from India to other right hand drive markets, hence they did not drop the price here. They have limited production capacity.

Pro Swift-> Looks (subjective), better FE, Maruti reliability
Against Swift -> No split rear seat (even my M-800 has a split rear seat)- Useful for occasional situations when have to carry stuff

Maruti reliability is extraordinary. have owned a 2000 mpfi M-800. Engine is as smooth as ever even after 40 k on the odometer. No break-down so far. Most importantly, even after lying unused for 5-6 weeks, starts on the first crank (amazing!!!). FE 14.5 in city with AC and 22 on highways.

Go for the getz. I have had one since Feb 05, replacing a Santro that my kids started in infancy. Now that they are a little bigger, the Getz has all the space you need for three kids to sit comfortably at back. In fact it has as much rear space as my old Ford Escort, and better knee-room. It's a comfortable car for family commutes to school and wife going to work. Hyundai service is spot on. Perhaps they could have dropped the price a bit.

But i have heard that the Getz Backseat is not very supportive. Its too low (much like Accent) which makes tall guys sitting with their Knees pointing to sky...

To really state the truth both the cars are equally good.

you really are not going to miss a thing if you buy getz or swift.

personally though I think swift is a margin better in each and every aspect than getz other than design.

Getz

Hi guys,

I got delivery of my Getz GVS (Bright Silver) yesterday. Have driven 100 Km on it so far, and I am glad that I chose Getz. The driving position is really comfy especially with steering tilt adjustment.

I love the package and the only 2 things which Hyundai did not provide are Floor Mats & Digital clock. These can be purchased later, but with the kind of cost of the car, these should have been standard equipment.

My vote goes for Getz. Check out the boot space.

WHatever it is,
SWIFT is the car I will buy! rather than a GETZ!

Swift has all the nice features including the SUZUKI name.
Getz has some nice features and a bad feature : the HYUNDAI name.

I own a Swift Vxi and completed around 14k kms. Today I got a chance to test drive GETZ in daily commuting roads.

Uneven surface roads doesn't transform those sounds and bumbs to the travelers & felt Getz to be more solid than Swift. Earlier I had mentioned that there is not much interior space difference between these two cars (actually I thought there is no difference at all), but now I could feel the difference. Getz has comfortable leg room than Swift though marginal. Back seat folding really impressed me a lot which is not there with Swift. Felt the need last month when I wanted to carry a chair. The front windshield appears to be wide & with lots of glass area (open), it doent feel as if your'e locked in a room (as in the case of Swift).

Swift is better than Getz in terms of handling & it is very easier to drive when compared to Getz.

After discounts, the price difference between Getz GVS & Swift Vxi is only 20k.

Today if I were to choose between these two, it would be tough to decide (if mileage was not taken into consideration)

That was a very insightful post Surprise!

Can you pls explain your last sentence? If mileage was taken into consideration, you think the choice is clear? Which one?
