My car returns me a figure of 14kmpl. I guess Getz will run short of 4 kms approximately per litre. Considering the current fuel prices & proposed hike, I would opt for Swift compromising the items that impressed me with Getz

@Surprise, 14kmpl is damn good FE for a car that weighs more than the Baleno. But then the engine (same as the Esteem?) is only 1.3L which could be behind the FE increase. BTW, is this with A/C on always or intermittent A/c use or without A/c ? You being in Chennai, I am assuming that it is with A/C on always. If so, this is one heck of a good FE.
And you are correct about the Getz' FE - my friend's Getz returns 10kmpl in city and around 13-14kmpl on highways.

Well this poll is very apt for me right now. We are contemplating changing our second car which is a Wagon R Vxi. Since it's our second car, I am leaning towards Swift. If it was our only car then the Getz makes more practical sense with the better space & boot. Though I wish there were more color options in the Swift. Red is too common but it still looks the best.

I will vote for the Swift, I am a completely loyal Maruti customer and in my 8 years of owning cars it's the Maruti's which have served me the best.

Assem,

The only positive about getz is that is offer little more leg and boot space, so if that is not in the criteria choice is very simple .... Its swift all the way. Swift has got ALL aluminium engine (32 bit processor used) which a refined version of its peer esteem engine. Splendid rally suspensions and EPS make is very comfortable car. Looks is a subjective issue but generally we know that swift socres better. Interiors are better in swift and hag got awesome driving panel and comfort. Also fuel effciency is good but I dont think that I'm getting 14 with AC but 12 is possible if you follow simple rules.

Suspension : both are similar
FE : Swift is better
AC : Swift is better
Rear seats : Getz is bigger, but i didn't find it comfortable. Swift is smaller but i think because of the head-rests and higher seating position i found swift to be more comfortable.
Power : Swift very clearly
Interiors : Getz looks good and bright with the light beige typre interiors.
Visibility : Both are bad with thick C pillars.

Overall, I think swift is great value for money. I think Getz cannot survive for long with swift's competition.

Thats mid end sedan category !!
BTW I heard that swift too is quite a thirsty car itself.... infact its confusingly thirsty
one of the few cars where people are getting right from 8 to 14 in city...

But swift looks way better than getz...

@aseem: no need for dat, swift is selling much more than getz.
Infact, it has broken all records of a new car sold in its 1st year of launch.
earlier that record was held by alto.

I just read the other day in Economic Times that Swift has sold some 30,000 or 60,000 cars since its lauch. I think it more 60,000 something.

The Getz I am sure hasnt even crossed 6,000 in the last 12 months.

BTW, I choose Swift anyday over the Getz.

My personal feeling is the front dash board of Swift is better (1000 times) than GETZ.

But I will not prefer to wait so long to own one as in the case of Swift delivery
I do agree ... Dashboard of swift is just awesome.

My Swift's giving me 13.5 kmpl with 99% a/c (bumper to bumper traffic in Bangalore) and I am happy with it!!!

Hmmm..everybody's claiming 12-14 kmpl in city for the swift, eh..?? That's pretty good...shucks, the BEST I've managed till date is 15. But that's on the highway, sedate driving at 130+ constant, and 100% A/C. Perhaps I need to learn how to drive all over; I just can't seem to better 12 kmpl in the city; Perhaps the 1.3 JTD would give much better F.E under spirited driving....

Gaah; MUL, chuck the sedan plans and launch the 1.6 Swift before march....
