I've heard many a times that a new vehicle should always be driven below 60-80 KMPH and should never be driven above 100 KMPH for the fiirst 1000-3000 Kms.

Is there any potential for engine damage/malfunction in long run?

Why is that? Is it for normal petrol/diesel engines or even advanced turbocharged petrol/CRDI diesel engines come into this bracket?
