So is this a repositioning of the Optra?

Or are they clearing stock and phasing it out?

Repositioning. All to give way for the new Cruze. In the end the consumers are getting benefited. But for the resale value, this is good buy. Who knows, the brand may pick up with increase in resale value too

If wishes were....

GM must be firing from everywhere. After Cruze, Optra, now it is the turn of Aveo UVA. Wonder where they will position the Beat.

I dont think there is much new in these offers. The starting price for Aveo-UVA has been at 3.99 L for a while now. I am not sure though if beige interiors has been an addition.

Same for the LS variant pricing of Optra Magnum. I remember seeing these ads a few weeks back in Bangalore and if I recall correctly it has been discussed in TBHP.

The sales havent increased by much with these offers. The issue is more with the GM as a brand & other perceptions rather than its cars per se. Cruze may get more potential buyers to the showroom and some of them may end up buying Optra - thats the best immediate benefit they could hope for. Else one car cannot change public perception about GM.

Interior was the major problem with UVA , now they have fixed it. let us wait for the October sales figures from GTO and vasudeva to see the impact.

The 7.39 lac is for the base version 1.6 petrol Magnum. But if we take into account the huge discounts provided on the earlier price, the new price is not actually a big deal.

I think some good Marketing manager has joined the company and that's why we are getting some good discounts.Anyway finally GM will gain confidence from the public.

NO IMPACT

CIVIC, ALTIS are priced just about a lakh cheaper than EMBERA - still no buyers for EMBERA

u think someone who wants and can afford a ANHC would say - wow great deal -let me save 2 lakhs and buy a OPTRA ???

this is merely a "technical " correction. will make no difference to sales

hopefully the CRUZE does not find itself in the same position in a years time

Yes, it he wants to then he will certainly.

But, if he is looking out for deciding on a car, this will definitely be considered. And the space and comfort has a positive hand for Optra. Agreed, the only negative is the resale value. So, anyone who want to keep the car, will definitely go for this.

Price further reduced to 7.13 1nd 8.13 respectively

Today's Times of India,

Looks like Chevi is trying to clear the inventory at any cost. I hope they will continue the trend till it reaches Alto level

Have never driven the Optra Magnum. How is the driver seat comfort ? Is it a low slung position WRT to the Octy ?

Thanks

don't worry, once the sales picks up for the Cruse. GM will also raise their prices. I feel these price are just introductory. However Cruse doesnt come under ANHC, Verna or SX4 category. as it is approx. 3L more than these cars.
