umm, the grill design is India specific? Could this be a Made in India - for the world type model?

Wow. The interiors look very trendy. Hopefully this is the same we are going to get in India. Now we have to wait for the pricing. If the Polo pricing is anything to go buy, then it could easily be in the range of the City.

As is the case with most hatch derived sedans, the Vento's rear looks a bit bland. Not a beauty pageant winner, but a solid and understated design nevertheless. When do the booking registers open VW?

I have been contemplating on the Honda City to replace my aging Ikon. But now I am surely waiting to see this car in flesh before I plonk 9L odd on the city. I absolutely love the overall treatment VW have done to the Polo to make the Vento.

@drchernish Nice pics. The new pics seem more real and aren't just renderings.

VW needs to get the pricing and availability right to take on the H City. 5 month waiting periods would drive the customers to competition. I liked the polo hatch except for 3 pot engine, and i'm waiting for the vento as it comes with 4 cylinder engine. VW, i hope you don't disappoint.

The overall design looks really well balanced and proportionate,as expected! Looks like the car will retain the Polo moniker in other markets, while badged as a Vento only in India.

The car looks well proportioned. The boot resembles the back of a Fiesta to me!

I only hope that it is better spec'ed and also priced well if it has to take down the ANHC!

drchernish, thank you for the images.

As per the latest photos of the car, the cars looks simple & understated, just as all the VWs look like. I do not like the alloy-rims (my personal opinion) & the dark interiors (I prefer the black-beige combo of the hatch). As someone has rightly said earlier, the car will age well (like the good old Zen).

Hopefully, by the time it is launched VW production in India is in full swing & can fully meet the demand rush.

This is the best iteration of the Hatchback-to-sedan transformation.
I hope the Indian version does not skimp on ACC,DIN music player, wheel mounted audio controls and maybe even the DSG/auto.

Looks like a a copy of Fiesta. Looking at the smaller boot, i am expect the rear legroom to be larger, in which case it can hope to bring in good sales to VW (and give headaches to Honda & Ford).

BTW, did the site provide the dimensions of this car?

Volkswagen really does do a great job of adding a boot to their hatchbacks. First with the Golf-Jetta and now with the Polo. It will be interesting to see what engines they offer on this car in India. I hope they get the 1.6 TDI with the lovely DSG Gearbox.

Tata and Maruti need to learn how to redesign their hatchbacks from Volkswagen.

I was looking at the official pics of the new polo sedan which makes its world debut today at the moscow auto show and the spyshots and the car matches piece by piece. Its a nice conservative design, but in my books, the city is in a different class together in terms of exterior looks. I love it.

This car should deliver quality at a reasonable price. (Read=cheaper than city), even for a diesel.

Going by the pics, it is available with a 1.6 litre "otto" engine with 104 bhp. I think that the Indian market will also get the same motor. And this should be the engine that can come in the polo 1.6 hatch too.

The rear is OK, but somehow it remind me of 1998-2001 fiat siena at the sides. Yet, it looks nice and conservative. VW, Kit it fully and price it competitively if you want to make this succeed.

VW Polo Sedan has been unveiled in Moscow today. The news is all over the net

Volkswagen Polo V sedan revealed

Dimensionally it is longer than Fiesta, and the wheel base is also longer. Guess it should offer a good rear space.

Let us see how they price it in India.
