This is great news! Considering the fact that it's been priced so competitively, I think it should create waves.

It's good to hear that we get a power full engine in a beautiful car. There seems to be a long list of equipment in the car which is a good sign of C segment is burning high and who is going to catch the market.

Well, I can vouch for what autocarr has put across in this thread. Hint :The 'insider' in this case is well known by most Fiat owners and he can be trusted with this info. I have heard of the exact same details as revealed here about the 1.4 T-Jet being launched way before they plan on the 1.6/1.9 MJD due to Fiat having to develop a new gearbox for the diesels.

ANHC is actually 118ps which AFAIK translates to 115bhp. T-JET is 117.8bhp (from the figures on this thread) which is, simply put, more - though only marginally. The 0-100 timings on the T-JET (9.2secs as in this thread) are more in Civic's territory than City's. That's why the comparison.

What are ordinary cars? Affordable ones? or one with smaller engines (say less than 2L)? Either way, some SMART cars have turbos on their 600cc engines in Europe. And these are cars 'ordinary' folks like us can buy. So, yes. It's a technique that can be applied to any engine probably even a scooter if it's a economically viable proposition.

IF this info is correct and the specs/prices are same as mentioned below, then I would be in line to buy one of these in exotica yellow or the marine blue color.

I am sure that in coming days the early jitters of QC in Lineas would be addressed and quality of materials used in the interiors would have improved.

14k/l in City and 17k/l overall is like a deal clincher for me with 200 NM of torque@2.5k rpm spinning the wheels and 115+ HP under the hood.

Expected Price for Linea 1.6 MultiJet: 9.8 - 10.23 lakhs on road (Slightly below D Segment, equal to Honda City auto)
Now, this raises more questions here: IF the 1.6 has been shelved for a later date and a new gearbox is being developed then how come they have put a price point on what is just not there and the critical component is under development??

IMO, HYPE is being created again!! Fiat German website says

urban fuel consumption: 9.2 l/100km
Extra urban fuel consumption: 5.2 l/100km
Combined fuel consumption: 6.7 l/100km

which translates to about 10 kmpl in city and 14.5 kmpl overall

In real world its just 5% more than current 1.4 Fire but its good that more power and more fuel efficient.
I think it won't be difficult for Fiat to put Turbo on exciting engine.

In earlier City Vs. Linea comparisons, whatever good points written about the Linea were diverted to the underpowered engine thingy. Hope this engine - having slightly more power than ANHC - will keep their mouth shut. I like Honda but I am sick of seeing some posts in earlier threads.

I'm looking forward to the 1.6/1.9 MJD with a contemporary gearbox to match. That would be a great buy for me and since I got my present one less than a year ago, I can hang on till 2011

*GULP* If this information is true, the Linea T-Jet has the potential to become a sub 10 lakh rupee Skoda RS . Simply CANNOT wait to testdrive.

Why don't you observe the decorum of this forum instead of using such strong expressions?

Yes, can't wait to test drive one! But it seems the wait is spanning more than two months.

Hey comrade, it can be in a different state of tune. Maybe thats why the fuel efficiency figures are lower. Comparing the German T-JET with the Indian specd one (as I had mentioned in the first post) isn't fair.

That's good news that Linea will get Tjet version. So those who are waiting to buy Linea can wait a couple more months and go for the new version.
But I m not dissappointed as the car company's would be launching new products every year and better than the earlier ones.

Once it is launched I would only like to know if it would be possible to upload the below extra features on our Lineas. I think there would also be Cruise control apart from the below features.
Feature upgrades:

1) Hill Holder (HBA)
2) Auto Windshield Wipers
3) Auto Headlamps
Anyway, let's wait n see...
