TATA would do good removing the Sumo tag from the Grande (by now they should be knowing that it does more harm than good). Give it a more fresher looking interior with some addons like integrated music system and steering mounted controls.Change the grill to something which looks less plasticy. The rear looks very plain so the best way to go around without a redesign is to attach the rear wheel on to the tail gate like the Safari. Also offer ABS as an option atleast.

The recnent two news articles i saw from Motorids, this sumo and the new upcoming santro. Both pics are photoshopped.
They showed the Kia Picanto as the new santro by simply replacing kia logo with Hyundai's and putting santro name on the number plate. but their photoshop artists were not able to put the santro badge instead of a picanto on the car's rear.
So it became a Hyundai Picanto

I dont trust this website as far as the pictures go.

Unfortunately, the looks are the staid old ones as seen in the Sumo Grande.

Until that changes, just superficial chages will not help the Sumo.
Sumo sold more as a Taxi fleet vehicle.

After the Grande was launched and the subsequent price rise, the fleet owners shifted loyalty to the Tavera and the used Qualis/Innova resulting in the Sumo sales adversely.

i think harimakesh is right and if following changes made that i.e.

1.dropping sumo tag
2. ABS as standard in higher version
3. Air bags as option in the same version
4. Refresh Interios with good plastic quality
5. Re-designing of rear door and look
6. Reduction in price tag
7. discontinution of TDI version for taxis
8. Reduction in weight
9. Drop also Grende name
will make it value for money. I have not bought it for the above mentioned reasons and in the months of i have bought SCORPIO sle despite being almost finalising the sumo grenda

And this from a person who test drove the mini truck extensively before deciding otherwise.

The grande should be coming out with some major changes or else Tata wont be refering to it as Mark II,just because it has a side mirror indicator strip or a new side badging.

According to some reliable sources the refreshed edition is going to be called as Sumo Grande Plus & will be available in a few days time . The changes include indicator lights on side mirrors , body side claddings etc...

Guess they hired the marketing guy from the Hindustan Ambassador days. Sumo Grande Mark II what a joke? This albatros should have a 10 ton weight tied to it's neck and thrown into the Indian Ocean. There are enough MUV choices around and we can do without another folly from Tata Motors. What Tata needs to change is the bulbous rear looks and put coil springs at the back and maybe give a 4x4 option. Any other lipstick on this pig won't change it overnight from a failure to a hit. The MUV market is too crowded already.
