This thread really captures the indian car owners priority, if enough choice were available in each budget segment. Here's my list

1. Parking sensors (front)
2. Electrically adjustable seats w/ memory
3. Better tyres for indian conditions with no road noise and exceptional grip, traction control
4. side & knee airbags
5. Electrically foldable mirrors w/ auto fold on remote locking
6. More power, v6/8, better rear legroom, better clearance, with 3series handling, E-class ride.

+evthing my car already has.

Fantasy Wishlist : photochromatic effect windows, self healing paint, auto-tracking projectors, night-vision, full sunroof with an opaque cover under glass. Under 15L!

Indian Customer Needs

BHP-ians, there has been a lot of discussions about various features on various threads. For example the lenghty one about the Micra's push button start.

Lets have a discussion about what an Indian customer like you and me really need. Do we need Follow me home headlamps? And do we really need 6 speed INT wipers?? For that matter, does a push button start help us in any way or just give us the impression of owning an expensive car?

Lets discuss we need here and hope automakers are paying attention :-)

First thing what we need is a law from the GOI that Driver + Passenger Airbags are a must for ALL passenger vehicles manufactured from 2011. Its time enough that we catch up with the world on the saefty aspect.

Just like Power Steering was made compulsory for CVs 4-5 years back, similarly we need to have ABS & Front Airbags as standard in cars. Another thing that should become standard is car not starting unless driver / passenger is belted. India also needs to slowly adopt the pedestrian safety norms that have been implemented in Europe.

What if you have stopped in the middle of the highway & while trying to buckle back before starting, your seatbelt breaks & you aren't able to buckle up?

Must haves
- Rear Window Wiper on hatchbacks.
- Rear Window defoggers.

Another useful thing would be to have an option for having Airbags, ABS & automatic transmission on all trims of all vehicles.

Saar, I have never till date seen seat belts breaking or snapping so that probability can more or less be thrown out of the window. Also for all the electronics, there is always a default master switch (something like the limp mode). So that will take care if you need to bypass it in an emergency and reach the nearest workshop.

A must have features for Indian car consumers :

1. Strict license law. Today any monkey behind a wheel can get a license.
2. Traffic rules and road safety education. Looking at a way some people drive I think they do not even comprehend the meaning of traffic lights.
3. ABS+airbags
4. Power steering.
5. Power windows.

HI People,
I frankly feel this discussion has to be more analytically based, :

1) I think we should study our accidents history - then come to safety conclusions/Wants.
2) We need well planned roads - Now this is the life line of your car.i personally feel somewhere the car sellers should take such ancillary role. i Dont know how , but could be brain stormed.
3) Comparision with west - The problem with us (Indians) is we start comparing our standard with developed countries ,remember those coutries are developed in TOTO. We are still developing bits & part and all those are not in sync. Somewhere we need more governance on adherance on government promises. like bills passed or provisions made. Who really care to waste time check on the progress charts.
Today our want is something we feel a luxary in car , but its a standard feature in the west.
I hope i m not being too cynical. we are living in country where Inventions are need based
