The most frequent cause of tempers rising in the cars is the lack of rear vents for the A/C. The rear seat passengers would be sweating while the front seat guys would be feeling teeth-chattering cold. So the rear vents for the A/C are as must for me.

A engine that runs on H2O and gives the same sort of power that I get from my car today and I would be good to go. Note that this at no more than twice the cost of a new car today.

After having driven a humble old gen Zen LX for around 5 years, I understandably have a long must have feature list for my next car:
1. A boot
2. Climate control
3. Internally adjustable mirrors (preferably powered)
4. Power windows all around
5. Rear window defogger
6. Height adjustable driver seat
7. Adjustable steering wheel (at least for tilt)
8. 1.5L+, 90 bhp+, 160 kmph+
9. Central locking with remote
10. Anti lock braking system
11. An OEM music player
12. Fog lamps (at least at the front)
13. Anti glare internal RVM
14. Alloy wheels and tubeless tyres

Fingers crossed.

Air bags.
Automatic steering adjustment. I sat in a Lincon here and the steering column assembly adjusts itself to the driver's height and the seat adjustments made. While getting off the car the steering column assembly mounts back in.

Steering Audio controls.
Warning signals for every possible felony. (Seat belts, speeding on designated roads)
Forward motion Sensors just in case I have calculated a wrong cut in the parking lot between 2 cars.

Button press lumbar support adjustment. (Saw this in the Caddi I got to drive)
Hydraulic seat height and recline adjustment.
Notification on the console telling me how much can I travel with existing fuel.
In built Garmin branded navigator.

I'm spoit by driving here!

EDIT: Hot seats. You can control the temperature of what you are sitting on.
If you want a cold rear end, you can have it. If you like it nice and warm, you can
adjust the thermostat for that too.

Now I'm really spoilt.

Comfortable, supportive, non-sweaty seats!

Doesn't even have to be adjustable, as long as it suits my back

The correct logical fallacy you were looking for to describe the earlier post would be "incorrect syllogism".

The ideal car for Indian road conditions would be a Toyota Hilux. I have a sneaky suspicion that this category is not being encouraged because of the huge unemployment that would follow in the "tempo" sector.

Wonderful thread, similar to every kid sending his/her wish list to Santa Claus
Here is mine...

Assumptions:
-----------------
1. My current car Honda ANHC 1.5 SMT is 1 year old now. I look forward to keep it till another 6 years i.e. till 2016. It cost me RS 10 Lac in 2009

2. At current inflation levels of @8% p.a, the same new car is likely to cost some where between 17Lacs to 20Lacs in Y2016

3. Automobile market innovates cost by ~10-12% year on year which would mean the same car costs (+margin) could be some where RS 3Lacs to 4Lacs in Y2016

4. Considering my budget of about RS 18 Lacs to 20Lacs, Auto OEMS have about 12-15Lacs worth of features to be packed into the car.

What would such a car could include :
-------------------------------------
My reference is Honda ANHC 1.5 SMT
+ Alloys, better rubber
+ Climate Control, rear A/C vents
+ better rear seat comfort
+ Leather seat covers, interior finishing
+ built in inverter + Front / Rear Power Sockets
+ built in cool chamber to store water bottles / drinks
+ Sun films as a default
+ Parking assistance system reverse+forward+sides
+ Passive Key less Entry with immobilizer, Push button start, GPS location co-ordinates stored in the key that could be read by the phone and displayed on the screen/map.
+ GPS navigator built into the dashboard / center console
+ Emergency Messenger (built in wireless modem)
+ iPad like rear seat entertainment system embedded in head rests which enables on the go browsing using broadband wireless network
+ more powerful and fuel efficient engine (1800 cc)
+ better brakes, braking distance
+ better safety (6 airbags, safety rating)
+ Honda Civic or Toyota Innova (v series) like ride quality
+ Superior, eye catching, unique design
+ All inclusive maintence package for 4/5/7 years

+ Superior Buying experience (more dealerships, professional, tranparent, efficient, effective quicker processes)
+ Superior Service experience (Quick, Efficient, Available on call, Transparent, Transferable maintence package around the country)
+ Superior Ownership experince (predictability of total cost of ownership)
+ Superior Driving experience (both from the car and the roads)

Thanks!

Another must for me is Rear Wash and Wipe.

Errr... Window... Car window, I mean... I already have a spray in the toilet

Can't decide whether or not I am desperate about Climate control: that is going to be part of my Micra/Polo choice.

Half-decent ICE. half-decent will do. This is something I am incapable of deciding on afterwards, hence my current car has none after three years.

All I shall need is a safe comfortable car with:

ABS + EBD
2 front + side + curtain airbags
collapsible steering
impact sensing auto door unlocking
Auto fuel shut out on impact
Emergency help on call (onstar)
Superior crumple zones
Any other safety techs that shall come out in future

There is a reason I am shouting 'safety' in a even higher voice - please look in the street experiences thread on my accident where the Corolla i was driving got totalled, but me and the passenger got out scratchless.
