First official pics released by Volvo prior to its debut next march at Geneva, coming to India by next fall.

Read it in this month's edition of AutoCarIndia it's definitely coming in the middle of 2010 to India.The expected price was around 35 lakhs.
Would be an excellent buy considering its going to be really safe with a D5 engine and it also look's the part.

Trim level?
Dealerships?
USP?

The actual product has, honestly, never been the problem for Volvo. Its the lack of marketing, brand building and presence (dealerships). Volvo India would do well in first getting these vital factors in order, before launching any new car.

I love the shape. It looks brilliant. Like a coupe but oh so nice. Beautiful profile this car has.

The car looks brilliant and why the car doesn't have a fog lamp.I wish Volvo bring this through CDk and price well between 25 - 28 which would be a good value and can see some volume.

Is Volvo using the Ford plant in chennai?

Except for Merc, BMW, Audi the Indian consumer will not take to another Luxury / premium / Executive sedan via the CBU route, they cost a lot via CBU and the numbers dont mandate CKD - which would halve the price. Volvo does not have that kind of Brand recall or premium attached to it's name in India. Yes total manufaturing in india would be hard with doubtful numbers but then atleast a CKD must be attempted by the next tier of lux brands.

The side profile looks punto-ish to me; with sharper contouring.

Actually it looks like a mix of the new E-class Merc and the Suzuki Kizashi.
