FIAT India appoints Indians in TOP Management

New Delhi: Italian car maker Fiat today announced the inclusion of three Indians in the top management of its Indian subsidiary. Today in Sify Finance

The move is part of Fiat India's overall re-engineering exercise, the company said in a statement here.

Under the initiative, technology head S M Shirodkar would replace Bruno Frate as head of Process Engineering and Maintenance and R Rokade, will head Production replacing Ruggieri Rosario.

The position of Prinsi, CFO, will be split into accounting and controlling and will rest with the Managing Director ad interim.

This development is in sync with the global re-engineering of the Fiat organization structure.

Commenting on the appointments, Fiat India Managing Director Paolo Castagna said they were made to bridge the gap between Indian and Italian business practices.

''The business culture and the business processes in India are quite different from the Italian one. On the other end, there is no short-cut to adapt the business practices of a global auto player like FIAT to the Indian peculiarities.

''Therefore, in order to have the best success and right level of communications between the two realities you need to have a strong Indian management team open to international experience and the international practices of the FIAT group,'' he said.

My best wishes to Fiat India, I am sure they can turn around things for better. With good cars in their bag at good price point, only thing left is sort out marketing/sales and support.

I see some differences already, from dealers bad mouthing Fiat to being concious abt it. Fiat non-responsive ways to some very responsive ppl. in there though it requires some addition effort.

I wish them well...afterall it will only help Indian car industry and consumers over all

This move should also ensure some cost cutting !
The indian replacements are surely being paid less than the outgoing expats
