i get 12 - 13 regularly within the city with AC on 100 % of the time so i dont see why viper cannot get 15 without ac assuming he shifts gears bfore the 1500 rpm mark.

Well, my corrolla ('97 lx) does about ~12, mostly in traffic with AC on half the time(when mom's there or driver is alone), it weighs about 1400 kilos, so 15kmpl shoudl be about right for the baleno, my Q is, why dont dont people get that sort of mileage normally?

BTW we did the CNG conversion on it for about ~20K rs and it gets about 120mk from a full tank, I'd say about 8cm(100bdt for a full tank). performence depends on the quality of the gas, really, sometimes theres no difference between petrol and CNG but othertimes...

Good thread, goes to show that results can vary bigtime.

Viper, a little confused from your signature........ is the lovley baleno still your lady ?

My Santro zipdrive(2002) give an average of 12-14 in they city with severe driving... With AC it drops to 10-11. The most surprising thing is that on my first long distance trip (500 kms), with 3 passengers and almost no A/C we calculated an avg of 19km/lts !!! Believe it or not

I fill XtraPremium, fulltank everytime, follow the tripmeter cycle.

Baleno 14.2 highway 9.3 city

Hi Guys,

My new baleno vxi has done 600 kms. The following is the mileage i got with 100% AC.

Highway - 14.2 km/ltr
City - 9.3 km/ltr

Will the mileage improve after certain x kms are done ?

If yes, how much will it increase to?

Cheers,
Venkat.

You are getting a good fuel economy figure. That is considering the traffic in Bangalore. Based on the experience of others your fuel economy should go up.

In my exp, the mileage will go up once yuo have closcked abt 8-10 k kma..the diference I feel is abt 10%...

I get 11.5 (all AC) -13 (50% AC) in hyd city wit moderate traffic. I get abt 12-14 on the highway but guess thats because I really rip the car.
My Uno gave me around 15 (1242 cc engine) on the highway generally but once I deceided to economise, never went beyound 85 kmph and used AC only when I thot I would get a sun stroke. On this particular trip I got 20.4 kmpl !! So driving style make a lot of difference..
Do you use the Brake? Do you press the acclerator more than a third while acclerating? do you cross 1800 RPM regularly?? Do you use the AC all the time, even when you are parked? If yes...you are not going to get the best mileage

Do you use the Brake?
Yes always what are the tips to avoid this ?
Do you press the acclerator more than a third while acclerating?
I think i do.
do you cross 1800 RPM regularly??
I have observed that in first second and third gears i change gears @ about 2500/3000 rpm

Yes AC is one of the best things about Baleno, i do use it when parked. [any tips here would be welcome, if i switch off the engine i belive just the fan would be running right? is it ok to run the fan when the engine is not running for say about 3 minutes]

I'm shocked

Am I glad I chose the Baleno over the other C segmenters. In the thread of Mclaren's in the review section where he has given his review on his newly bought Baleno (of course bruised now due to his accident), many of you may have missed my initial impressions on the Baleno I purchased on April fools day. I had mentioned that the first time I checked the FE, I got 9.85kmpl i.e. drove 181 km for 18.33 litres of unleaded. I just tanked her up again yesterday and take a look at this : 340 km for 31.2 litres of unleaded for an amazing mileage of 10.9 kmpl in Mumbai city traffic with a/c on all the time. And I haven't even completed my first service as yet. This is truly amazing efficiency and that too using my normal driving style...no light foot driving as such.
Does the FE improve after the first service? Calling other Baleno owners.

I got an average of 8 km/l with 100% AC before first service. After 1st service i am getting 8.5 km/l with 100% AC in Bangalore traffic.

I am told by the maruti guy that after second service the FE reaches its peak (i.e after 5k of run-in)

Do you mean on the battery. I guess not it will drain your battery.

I think I posted these figures on some thread...
Anyways,
City - 9.5 - 10.5 km/l
Highway - 14.5 - 15 km/l consistently.

These figures are with the a/c on most of the time.

Floyd , venkat to believe the unbelievable fill up early morning , shift gears at precisely 1750 rpms ( u will be shocked to see the response ) , dont cross over 2500 revvs , without AC and im sure u will get 14-15 kmpl in the city .. Thats how v1p3r and me manage to do that , bcoz all our savings goes into tanking up during the weekends for some rubber burning fun and jolly ...

FE will only get better as u clock more miles , so expect atleast an increase of 1-2 kmpl after completing 5k kms ..
