Whats the price like?

Salsa Red or Sun Flower yellow on the bug. Anthracite Metallic or the white on the Touareq. Looks like these would be my fav colours.

Thanks Hiren. Me thinks the Beetle still should be able to find some buyers

20 lacs is way too expensive and I think they will have a tough time selling the beetles. But I do not think they really care.

It is the Polo which is the main car here - 4.5 lacs is a good price to start. I hope they keep the top specced diesel variant at around 6 - 6.5 lacs ex showroom.

Some are getting the name of the car wrong. Its Beetle and not Beetel.

I disagree when someone says the beetle is the nano of Europe. its not a low cost car, but a full fledged car, albeit small.

The basic beetle with the smallest petrol engine with no extra frills costs €17,300 in Germany (12 lakhs INR) as per VW website. So I think 20 Lakhs is justifiable for a complete export. Is it economically feasible in India, being a small car, is questionable. It would be considered in the range of the FIAT 500, than a common mans small car.

Please also find attached the prices for various model variants for the beetle. Its questionable what all version would be available in India. any clues?

Wasn't this the people's car?
At 20L, few people will be owning this one!

The Touareg should be fun to drive with all the torque on tap.

Fiat 500 at 14-15 lacs with a 1.3 MJD and a Beetle at 20 with a 2.0 litre Petrol.

The Spare wheel for the Touareg is a 195/75 R 18, while it is otherwise shod with 255/55 R 18s. The difference comes out to be slightly more than acceptable IMO.

What do you guys think?

End of the day customers pay for everything! Maybe they want Beetle customers to pay to subsidize Polo. But it was always known that Beetle would be a CBU and hence add a zero or two in the end to costs.

Imagine - the cost of spares your may buy you another Nano
