Stan, i doubt if its got to do anything with performance. If it was Laura TSI even now can easily smoke all other cars in the list.

My vote goes for HONDA CIVIC, a fully loaded Civic is one of my dream cars to own.
Its 1.8L engine works like a dream on it, a rocket powered pick-up.

LOL you must be kidding yourself if you really expected Skoda to win. No fault of the car, just that right now it is 'politically correct' to hate Skoda. Notice how everyone ignored repeated reminders to consider the cars for themselves and ignore dealer/buying experience, A.S.S. etc. and their voting was largely based on such factors. (Incidentally in my town the A.S.S. is good and Skodas seem to be flying off the shelf).

Skoda seems to be the preferred car for guys who spend long hours on the highway while the guys who use their cars mainly for city commutes buy other cars.

Cheers,

Ya I know the performance is good and stuff for the Laura. It could be used to boost the brand perception even more if Skoda bought in the VRS.

Actually i expected this result because of the poor A.S.S from Skoda in certain areas across India and also for other reasons as you mentioned. But I believe even honda doesn't have such a great A.S.S, only thing is no one mentions it much on our forums but they sell more still.Wonder how??

wow, it 2 days the voting scenario has changed.
Civic, Altis and Cruze are in neck to neck race.

it shows couple of things

1. "Japanese" brands cumulatively lead the market

2. Cruze seems to be "vote for change" candidate. whether it will retain
this pole position or not will be known in due course. may be another
pole in 6 months time is needed.

3. Decoupling *** experience from the car is next to impossible in India.
Car per se may be the best, but the consumer makes his choice based
on overall perceptions and reality.

4. Volkswagan as a comapny is closely behind Japanese atleast in C+/D segment.

Chevy Cruze LTZ is my choice. At 14L its a steal. Laura and Jetta cost almost 4L more.
