AFAIK except Speed 97, all premium fuels in metros are 91 RON, same as normal fuel. The difference in price is due to the additives. This was told to me by the manager of the Shell station that I visit regularly.

Folks,

If that is true, then we are talking RON in the range of 91-93. Then what fuel is used for TSI engines? Skoda recommends 95 Octane fuel.
TSI Engine owners, please respond.

Thanks. This was something which I was pondering for quite some time. So we are quite OK with TSI engines in India afterall

Correct. Skoda service personnel have also assured me that IOL's Xtra Premium or HP Power will work fine.

I visited 3 BP pumps in South Mumbai last week. None had Speed 97. None had any idea when it show up. Unfortunately I have been a bit busy to really follow up with BPCL directly.

So far my vRS has used 2 tank fulls of XtraPreium from IOL and there are no adverse effects.

Any idea if IOL Xtrapremium is 93 octane? Is your RS stock or modded?
The new breed TSI engines from VW need 95 octane to run well, i found a huge difference when i switched from 91octane to speed97, just toke me one full tank to notice the boast in pickup & the low speed stalling which TSI owners complain about is absent once you fill speed97 I spoke to another BP pump today, they told me speed97 is discontinued from now,
very sad news any idea if IOL Xtra is 93? Please can you find out for me?
thanks..
