Excerpts from the Hindu :-

" He said by 2012, the company would completely change one of the present hot—selling models and roll out in a new form with new design including body and interiors."

I'm guessing he's talking about the all new Swift.

i wonder if this heralds the possibility of an all new super hatch for India - the Suzuki Swift Sport version. bigger 1.6 engine, nice fat tyres, good alloys etc.

even if they can make this car in highly limited numbers and offer them, I am sure there are a few takers in India. Say if they make about 100 -150 such cars.

From the video it is quite evident that the new car has got stunning driving capability.
The entry and exit to the corners is quite amazing and a true sports car stuff.
This truly can be the first super hatch for India.

IIRC, there is already a Swift Sport available in europe and it's not been brought to India yet.
So I doubt whether Suzuki will bring in a Sport version of the new Swift. But then there is always wishful thinking Let the new Swift be released first.

Grand Vitara is brought in as CBU in India. So, they couldn't possibly price it so.

Even in Dubai I think Grand Vitara is brought in as CBU. However the exchange rate and import duties might be the key factor behind the pricing.

In Dubai all cars are CBU. For MSIL only the Grand Vitara is a CBU. We pay through our nose for CBU import duty that's why there is a huge difference in prices in India.(110% import duty for a CBU).

New Swift with Direct injection Petrol engine?

Source: http://***************.com/2010/05/2...ection-engines

"...it will also come with a direct injection petrol engine displacing 1,200cc.

This engine will be joined by a 1.4-liter turbocharged petrol engine generating 148hp and a 1.5-liter petrol engine, which we believe will be from the K-Series family for Asian markets like China and India.

Another piece of information to munch on is the appearance of the VW group’s 7-speed DSG transmission on the Swift. This particular variant will be for the European/Japanese market who conceive the Swift as a performance hatchback unlike Indians who look up to it as a family car."

So, a lot to expect:

1.2L Direct injection petrol engine
1.4L turbo charged petrol engine
1.5L K-series engine!!!

But will all these come to India as well?

here the link of that website Next generation Suzuki Swift will got 1200cc benzin direct injection and Swift sport featuring DSG 7 speed is now 6 month late | autoten.com

IMHO, the most possible option is 1.5L . the turbo engine must look at offering from competitor ,they must consider about cost of these hi tech engine too. another thing is Maruti will be a mother plant to building these engine or not is remain to be seen.
