Would be interesting to see what they've done about the rattles! Overall, just minor changes I guess - but if the car is based off of a new platform - wonder if the handling characteristics would change - I feel its the car's biggest +.

Sad to know - though - that my switfy would be "outdated" in a year (or 2/3/4...)

Thank you GTO. I do not believe in the philosophy "why fix it when ain't broken", but this one is like "fix it to make it good... better... best". For other cars trying to beat the Swift, "... try again".

I believe the car will be sharing platform with new Wagon-R, & will definitely be bigger than the existing as I have already opined in my earlier post. Regarding the rattles, it depends a lot on your driving style & the roads that you face. If you go slow on the rough patches, unlike an enthusiast, you won't enjoy the car, but the rattles can be deferred to much later stage of ownership.
Regarding the handling, Suzuki have been testing the car at THE RING for the same & the new car won't disappoint you, I reckon, as Suzuki would carry over the DNA of old Swift to new one (for this reason, Swift with K-series engine is different from Ritz, despite the same engines).

These give a very good idea of the size. I agree it looks bigger. The front looks better than current. The side profile is impressive. The rear is some what a let down.

Loved that side profile and those big what 16 inches?? wheels. It definitely looks better than the existing one. The front IMHO is almost the same and rear has got a bit of curves like an i20. Overall the best design effort from Suzuki in recent times.

The car looks very promising. I hope Maruti will not compromise while providing it with generous equipments and also does something about rattles.

The pictures prove that it is definitely bigger & sleeker than the existing model. That what I have posted in earlier in this this thread (all my posts are based on my research, including this forum).

Sam, if you are not in a hurry better wait. I predict Diwali launch (earliest possible) of this one, lest you car will be rendered outdated (model) in a few days only.

Official photos: Photos - 2011 Suzuki Swift

Official press release:
Press release

New Swift has grown slightly in length (+90mm) with a 50mm increase in wheelbase; full dimensions are as follows:
New SwiftPrevious SwiftLength3,850mm3,760mmWidth1,695mm1,690mmHeight1,510 mm1,500mmWheelbase2,430mm2,380mmFront Track1,480mm (16-inch wheels)1,470mmRear Track1,485mm (16 inch wheels)1,480mm
For the powertrain; a new 1.2-litre petrol engine incorporating Dual VVT (Variable intake and exhaust valve timing) is utilised which produces 94PS at 6,000rpm, slightly more than the outgoing 1.3-litre unit. Torque is also improved to 118Nm at 4,800rpm.
Fuel consumption on the combined cycle is now 56.5mpg for the manual transmission model, an improvement of 7.8mpg over the previous 1.3-litre unit.
Emissions are much lower as well; the new 1.2-litre engine with manual transmission produces just 116g/km on the combined cycle; representing a 24g/km or 17 per cent improvement over the 1.3. An optional automatic transmission will be available for the petrol engine from launch.
A 1.3-litre diesel engine will also become available and planned for UK introduction in early 2011; this engine emits 109g/km (down from 119g/km) and has an impressive combined fuel consumption of 67.3mpg, an improvement on an already highly credible 62.8mpg from the outgoing Swift DDiS. This Euro 5 engine has more precise engine management than before with reduced levels of mechanical friction for smoother running and flexibility.

Few initial points.

The car is made to look more aerodynamic. Thats a plus.
Sharper looking rear light is good.

Few minuses:
The rear bench to me looks to have got more claustrophobic. Than the current one, I might be wrong.
Overall not big a change.
As an end user change to K series engine is bigger than this change.

Yet Suzuki promotes this change more than the K series one. Thats Ironic
