Love the new looks, but the rear window seems to be even more smaller than current one. Now no longer i see Punto being judged the best looking hatchback in India.

I love the new looks. It still retains the character of the Swift. Changes are subtle yet noticable. A Thumbs up to the design team at Suzuki.

Nice, the C-pillar+door is now more faithful to the Concept-S. The boot size is really disappointing though.

The 1.2L K series engine sold abroad is actually in excess of 1200 cc. That engine clubbed with VVT produces 94 PS. What we should be getting here is the current 1197 cc K12M motor. I 'm sure Maruti would not want to lose the tax breaks on this for a few horses. What needs to be seen is whether they would do an SX4 and bring in the VVT on the K12M, which would up a few horses and simultaneously improve the FE too. Now that would make of one hot hatch! I can already see a very very worried competition out there. Just hope Maruti brings this in ASAP.

Suzuki has done a fab job of retaining the same design language while giving it a more updated look. The tail lamp in not to my liking though. looking forward to seeing it on the roads.

The car is sensational though.
1) The international 1.2 K series engine is called K12B. K12B is 1242cc. Earlier K12M produced 87-89 bhp in International markets, and had singe VVT. This time hopefully K12B has dual VVT and as Suzuki claims, K12B with Dual vvti produces around 93.15 bhp. That is 75 bhp/ltr.

2) For India, thanks to some norms that are almost meaningless IMHO, K12B capacity was reduced to under 1200cc and then the engine was called K12M. In India K12M produces 84 bhp from 1198cc ( IIRC ), i.e. around 70 bhp/ltr. I expect 90 bhp K12B to come with this car.

Here is boreXstroke dimesnsions.

K12B
1242cc
Bore X Stroke : 73 X 74.2 mm.

K12M
1197cc
Bore X Stroke : 73 X 71.5 mm.

3) The car looks really good, but not as good as I expected. Original Swift being sold here was smashing looking when launched in India. This new generation swift is more rounded.

4) Interiors is a good improvement. But the boot is still not the best. IMO, the Wagon R that was sold in India with F10D has the best combination of rear seat space and boot.

5) Suzuki is not having good diesels which now shows up. The only way they can make up for that deficit upto some extent is to come up with 1.5l petrol unit and a hot hatch with 1.6l unit. Else competition will kill Swift.

6) I am not happy with nonIRS.

7) Suzuki claims that this Swift is lighter which means better performance, but at the same time I expect this Swift to get 5/5 rating at EuroNCAP.

This is exactly what you would get if you were to mate i20 with the current Swift !
Not radically different in the design approach, the side view seems most impressive. I hope they don't make the front face similar to the boxy one like that of the ritz (as suggested in one of the pics in previous posts).

New Swift looks amazing, its sleeker and has a more purposeful stance compared to the outgoing version.Hope the Indian version will also have similar looking interiors and the new 1.2L engine.

Also from the pics the bulge in the boot lid is not as pronounced as in the case of Megane.
Wowww!! Brilliant .. Suzuki has done an amazing job here . I was skeptical about the boot when saw the initial pics , but now in the latest ones yes they arent as much bulging as it seemed to be .

Hot hatch war is here to stay

If priced at the current swift price , well then other manufacturers would need to do something really to be in the game !

The new Swift looks great.

The interiors look excellent. I hope the Indian version gets most of them.

The exteriors look good. The front looks more mature than before with extended head lights (a styling quotient being followed eg. Chevy Beat). The rear looks good in the new photos. The alloys are very very sporty and i hope Suzuki gets it to our motherland (not the boring ZXI alloys)

Neat Upgrade - In one of the pics, I also notice a dead-pedal.

But, why no pics of rear seats - with the decreased boot volume, rear space should be a trump card !

Looks Like the new swift is going to come with a lot of new features to beat its rivals.
From the pics its evident that there's Electric ORVM's,Dead Pedal,Lot more cubby holes and phone integration-Although we dunno how much of it will make it's way into the Indian Swift.

Definitely looks bigger than the current one! The headlight looks more like the Ritz now, and the place for number plate is quite unique, at the joining of boot door and the bumper.
