I don't think the K12M will find its way to under the WagonR's hood. It got to be either the K10B or the G12.

I used to drive a Wagon R, the previous model.
Wagon R is a good car for a small family to run in town, totally unsuitable for highways.
Its small on the outside and it makes you feel so spacious on the inside.
Ideal for in town relaxed driving especially for huge six footers like me..
No need to bent like in an alto and its more fun than a santro
Gear shift was very vague and bushy, that was the only problem I felt was significant.
Afterall to be a wagon R owner u ve to have a huge heart..(Thats what ACI says)

Sandy, I quiet don't agree with you on the fact that the WagonR is "totally Unsuitable" for highways. I myself am 6'3" and have been using a WagonR (Older reclining rear seat Model from 2006) which has now clocked over 1 lakh KMS on the ODO of which most of my journeys has been on the highways.
I agree that this is not a highway handler but don't write this off as a totally unsuitable car for the highways. If understood well, It can and will always handle the Highways well within its limitations. Let us better not compare this with the likes of the Swifts, Ikons or any other driver's car and comparing this with its closer tallboy competitors will still put this in an acceptable position for various parameters.

Any info or luck with the pictures guys ? burnyourfuel.com is carrying an article stating that the new WagonR will be launched in April and should be in the showrooms by the end of March. No snaps though.

Why do we have so many versions of WagonR sold in different countries. Why can't we have a single model with same engine sold worldwide - like i10, i20, Figo etc. I fail to understand.

The Japanease WR looks diff from the Indian one which is somewhat similar to EU one (Opel Agila). Then again, the Chinese one has a completely different look.

(Although the basic design theme is same - functionality over form)

With new Figo and Polo launches, better they do not launch this ugly car. Else they end up like Estilo. I started liking present WagonR after seeing these pictures.

I will disagree with this statement. My wagon r has completed 120,000 kms and around 60,000 of that was done on highways in south india especially between Bangalore and cochin. It did serve me well and never had a any breakdown on the road so far. Also it is very good on unpaved hilly roads in kerala due to its crawling abilities at 1300-1800 rpm in first gear.

I am planning to buy a safari 4x4 EX but wagon r will stay due to its practicality.

Can some one having reliable sources in Maruti confirm if this is the one?
I wont be shocked to see something like this from Maruti though I wish they launch gen. 4 Waggy here.
Seems like these ARE the pictures of the 'to be launched soon' Wagon R.

ET Now's this report confirms pics posted earlier by you.

What ET is saying:

- Code name YR9, which is a new platform.
- Now being tested in Maruti's Manesar plant.
- Fitted with the new K series engine (which one, they didn't mention)
- Because its a new platform, it will be costlier than 3.5L.
- The car will be shown to the Suzuki chairman next week (no mention of launch date)
