Just saw the WagonR commercial on TV. Had Madhavan promoting it. The car looked the current model only. If Maruti is supposed to launch the new boxy version in coming days then why the commercial is been aired now? Any thoughts?

Typically they do it clear off the left over inventory. You can expect some discount offers on the older version if they are not able to move the old stock.

The commercial featuring Madhavan is a new one. Creating a entirely new ad for a older version does not sound business sense to me. It will confuse the audience ... unless Maruti intends to keep the same look but a new engine.

No Maruti will not keep the same looks. They will give it the Eeco treatment (revised headlamps, bumpers, grille and taillamps along with the 1 litre K series unit from the AStar). So much so for the so called New WagonR. Was expecting something big here. Guess they killed it when they decided to launch the Ritz.

According to the BSM site the YR9 (New WagonR) is going to be wider with better interiors and a 1.2 litre engine. Let's see what they have in store. Guess Maruti's stall is going to be the most looked out for as far as the small car space is concerned.Hmm this is getting confusing. Will there be 2 WagonR's aka Indica and Indica Vista?

The new Maruti Eeco comes with an engine of 1200 cc. But it is not a K-Series as expected, but a down-sized G-series engine tweaked for BS-IV norms. Produces 73 BHP, and will eventually come into new Wagon-R!

Looking to book the Wagon R

Guys,

Is there any tentative news on the release of the new wagon R? Does it make sense to wait and see or should I go ahead and buy the current one. Kindly help.

If you want 4 cyl get one now. Its expected to go to a K10 3 cylinder in April. It many get some minor updates but unlikely to see an all new model.

Will the 3 cylinder have lesser Cubic capacity and torque than the current 4 cyliner which I think is a 1060 cc. Is the current zen running on this new 3 cylinder?

The cubic capacity will be less (998 of the 3 cyl against 1061 of the old),but both power and torque are higher in the 3 cylinder KSeries

and teh current Estilo sports the 3 cylinder kseries

The lower cc will also mean lower insurance rates and higher mileage

There have been news on the forum that the W-R might be launched with the new 1.2G series engine which is doing duty on the new Eeco. I'm assuming you might see the 1.0L K-series engine as well.

But just give it a thought. How about Ritz LXi? Thats a far modern car than a W-R.
