The Premier Rio is a joke, right? My vote's on the Superb. Short of getting disillusioned by the infamous service of Skoda, there's nothing in the poll which comes anywhere close to the Superb's value for money.

I agree with this viewpoint 100%. I too did not vote for the Nano for similar reasons. What's the point in boasting that its an achievement that they have this mouthwatering pricing, when anyone having that much money to buy a Nano is NOT able to buy it. It is not a revolution in terms of pricing or availability in that sense.

If a time comes when anyone who wishes to by a Nano can actually buy it, it will be selling at much higher prices as opposed to its 'lottery' style of selling today.

I wonder whether everyone who votes for the Nano blindfolded is actually thinking about this aspect.

For me, the real COTY '09 will be GP.

I have seen it in flesh and think that it deseves to win. Availability for all cannot be the reason to debunk its popularity.

As a product, it has made a lot of manufacturers think about value engineering and at the same time provide an option for many people to own a car.

Thousands of crores was spent on something radical and turned out pretty neat and I am proud that it was done by our guys.

Though it hasnt crossed the finish line, but is nowhere near like Obama getting the nobel prize stupid:

Hats off to Ratan Tata for achieving his dream....one after another! Around the same time 10 years back, he stuck to his commitment of a car that will have the space of an Ambassador at the price of a Maruti. Fast forward to '09, the Manza shows just how much Tata have advanced in their 10 real years of car making.

Know what the coolest thing about the Nano is? Sure, its the cheapest car in the world, yet feels like a proper car. Its got more room than the 800 and is surprisingly peppy in the city. But the coolest part of the Nano is its styling, looks and image. I mean, this is the only 1.5 lakh rupee car that an owner of a 80 lakh S Class wouldn't mind having in his garage. It wows both...first time car owners and those from the luxury segment.

Simply put, the Nano has spunk. Character. Attitude. Heck, I find some 10 lakh cars lacking in these areas!

A Fact Reinforced by these pics! So what if its the Europa?

It simply has to be the Nano. Tata Motors has achieved that something others can only dream of. As GTO rightly said, Nano has been the defining moment of the auto industry in this decade.

I liked Cruze. for all the reasons menthioned by Dippy.

Great styling. Looks suit the Chevy bow tie perfectly
Stonker of a diesel engine. Performance can shame all competitors
Excellent levels of equipment
Well priced. Offers good value
Turbo lag is a downer, especially in bumper to bumper traffic
Not very spacious on the inside. Interior fit and finish is average and has scope for improvement

My vote goes for Cruze.

The pictures force me to think of a sequel to the film 'The Italian job' (showcasing the mini) - only this time it would be all Nano ! clap:

If its anything other other than Nano.,,

its got to be TOYOTA FORTUNER

While Nano is heading towards its sure victory for the COTY '09 title here, its interesting to note that it has already entered the list of Ugliest Cars of the past 50 Years by Business week.. :D

Fifty Ugliest Cars of the Past 50 Years: Tata Nano - BusinessWeek

Personally I don't feel Nano is that bad looking.

I'm surprised the Superb has not been rated higher.

There's no doubt in my mind the Nano is the winner in this list. But other than that, IMHO no car comes even close to the Superb as a COTY. Its only glitch is the A.S.S and to me it seems like the Superb is hands down COTY - simply flawless product at an unbelievable price tag.

I believe anyone who would have driven the Cruze would have definitely voted for it.
It's a rocket, I even found the handling to be very good.

I chose Superb for the first TSI engine in India and the only car that took away Honda's peace of mind. No consideration of the service here, its all about the car.

I thought Nano was COTY 2008, My bad. For indigenous car its one hell of an accomplishment and I sometimes get sleepless night thinking what will be the state of roads ones the car is in mass production mode. It will change the way we drive for ever n ever :)

Cheers!

Merry X'mas

Which car tailed the Tata Nano for second place?
