One cannot trust these articles. For all we know, they could have copied most of the things from Team-BHP with some of their own imagination!

There was a recent report, during the launch of Manza, IIRC, that quoted Tata's passenger vehicle head stating that the Xover would indeed compete against CRV!

Edit:

"He added that the Indicruz, the crossover between sedan and SUV, will be launched in 2010. Officials said it will be on a new SUV platform and be pitched against the Honda CR-V."

Looks like we'll have to wait till the auto expo to get a clear view on the positioning. Till then the speculations and arguments may continue.

I really dont think there is market for a MUV/crossover that too from TATA especially in the 16 lakh region. Even if TATA launches it with all the gizmos, it might not translate into sales as our market is very brand conscious.
IMHO its better for TATA if they release the new Safari and price it in the 13+lakh segment and place the Indicruz/Xover in the present Safari price range.

Price it at 16 lakhs, brand it LR and put it in the Mumbai show room

Here is the latest article from The Economic Times that puts the price in the 6-8 lakhs range. There we will see it really taking on the Xylo.

Tata's Xover to be on show at Auto Expo

Its highly improbable that the top-end variant will cost only 8L. A safe estimate would be 12lakhs atleast.

This seven-seater vehicle will sport a new generation engine

A new engine? the prototypes have been sporting twin exhausts, what're the odds that the 6 pot from the Indica Silhouette finds its way into the Xover? Or maybe the compact V6 they hinted at when the Elegante was displayed?

If it is going to be sold in the price range of 6-8 lakhs then I am sure it is going to have manza interiors and this would also be based on the vista/manza platform. May be the engine could be different.

This actually makes sense at this price point because there will be huge savings making 3 cars from the same platform.

Very true.

Something like how you post.

Spied 2010 Tata Safari / Indicruz EDIT : Caught testing in India! Pics on Pg. 20-2009tataindicruzmpv.jpg

Why go for the Manza platform when they have the one from safari which is better suited for the job. Also, looking at the pics the rear overhang does look shorter than that of manza and the indicruz is also bigger in size.
So it has to be the same one as Safari or possibly a new platform that will be shared with the upcoming Safari replacement.

well cant say much about that.
after xylo came in every one said innova is dead for sure etc etc but it is still doing very very good numbers.
i tend to see a lot of face lifted innovas nowadays in bangalore.
there might be a small percentage in drop of the sales in innova and the xylo .

JLR did have a 2.7 ltr V6 that was discontinued for its new 3.0 V6. Tata could perhaps use this for the likes of Indicruz, Safari etc.

Put perhaps an easier and more cost effective approach would be to hike the power of the 2.2 dicor and reduce the weight of the car. Im pretty sure a lot of unnecessary weight can be shaved of a product like the Safari.

Cant wait to find out what Tata has in store for us!!
