Apart from that the spare goes under the boot, instead of the tail gate, and minor changes to grill etc.,
As far as the "All new Tata safari" I guess that may be an indicruze based safari slated for early 2011? Probaly sid will have more details!
Apparently, my 2 cents

Face Lift Tata Safari 18
Expect good quality leather's
Expect good quality leather door trims
Drivers delight: Standard rack and pinion steering . Hope to say TATA to those pesky powersteering pumps (worm &roller types)
Squeek Squeek Delight: Say bye to those pesky tail gate rattles as the wheel goes beneath.
Most probably sep 10 time frame launch.
Tweaked 2.2 engine for torque

OVER
Expect good quality leather's different may be dual tones
Expect good quality leather door trims
Drivers delight: Standard rack and pinion steering
ABS,EBD,TC,Auto Climate Control
6-8 speaker blau music system
overhead a/c vents like nnova.
Tweaked 2.2 engine
Now patiently will have to wait for its launch in Jan10.

Mostly exiting safari 2.2 may be expected to get good decent dual tone leathers and spare wheel tucked in.

2) The front to rear pitching of the vehicle will be reduced to a heavy object mounted at the rear being removed and placed closer to the centre of gravity.

3) The Rear door would be easlier to open, plus it can be made of lighter materials as it no longer needs to carry a rear mounted spare wheel, plus will hopefully not rattle any more.

The only negative is looks but then the fortuner rear seems to be liked by most and no one's complaining about it. Though I too like the rear door mounted wheel look, it requires an even further reinforced door and better design like in the endy, pajero etc.

just think what happens to the rear view mirror's in our traffic conditions which are so closely attached to the vehicle, not only we will increase the tyre sales but the rear quarter panel will have to be designed like the front removable fender.
BTY, Safari is the product which even after years n years still manages to put a grin on our faces, lets hope the same trend continuos with the upcoming models.
Tata should also try not to compromise on quality for the sake of VFM, instead they shud offer varients for those who need lesser specd buy, but at the same time should'nt compromise basic safety features like tubeless tyres, tyre size, rear wash n wipe, fr & rr foglamp etc, etc,
what say ??
Its not preferable for Vehicles built for offroad usage to have the spare wheel tucked to the undercarriage, being exposed to muck water and what not, even providing a happy nesting place for some wildlife. Its not even prefeable to have the stepney mounted inside the cabin. Its not preferable to have flat tyre inside lined with mud inside the cabin. Hence the tailgate is an option SUV's utilise.

Its not about appeal, but its about practicality. Its the appeal of the overall SUV that the tailgate mounted spare is considered macho.

To each his own, I do think that it's all about appeal. Yep a guy actually using the vehicle for off roading is bound to think that way, but that is going to be less than 0.1 % of the usage of the vehicles in question if one considers all the buyer put together.

So the other parameters do have higher priority - at least to me.

But i can understand the view presented by you as one of a person intent on serious offoroading on a frequent basis.

does the indicruz appear to be a vista/manza wagon? Just like the indigo marina, but with a third row of seats?

Does the X2 platform share anything with the X1 platform? It would be logical to assume that they do

and the front/grillle already looks like the vista

No the Indicruz is a different platform altogether. It's not an Indica Vista marina with a third row seat. Yes it appears to share some parts with the vista such as the headlamps. But the story ends there. The Indicruz is an MUV aka the Innova. It bears a close resemblance to the Innova's profile. Could be slightly longer and wider than the Innova though.

Are we really going to get twin exhausts or is that a faker? Those tail lamps look similar to the ones on the Fusion/Figo/Indica. Guess this is becoming a Tata trademark. It sure looks longer and wider than the Innova. The rear bumper seems to be huge ! Anyways nice catch there. It's been a long time since we saw snaps of indicruz test mules.
