if the wheels are from existing safari it means they are 16 inches, 17 or 18 inches would look good. i guess indicruze also comes with 17 inches. manufacturers are moving to 17 inches for SUV now.

Is it just me who feels that this is more of a cosmetic surgery on the existing Safari?

Better engines and price matched interiors are what we really need. Even though a decade old, the existing safari is still a handsome beast.

I tried starting a new thread for the new Safari, but was deleted by mods.

Digital Vampire : Please remove the watermark from the image. This image has been scanned and taken from the Overdrive magazine (on Pg 28) with due credit to them. The image is their copyright.

@aditya79india: Thats an automatic watermark that comes when images are loaded into TBHP. Cannot be removed without removing the actual image

Thanks Jaggu for clarifying.

@ aditya79india: The watermark already says it is hosted on TBHP servers with due copyright credits to the respective owners.

If thats still not sufficient, the mods may decide to add a Image Credits-Overdrive India text at the bottom.

This is definitely not the Indicruz. Hope Tata's have got some input from JLR on the latest Safari. Besides the quality issues, i hope Tatas will put in forward facing third row seats and integrate the roof ac vents into the roof panel as opposed to the ugly thing that makes it look like a Refridgerated truck.

the current safari still rocks with its looks and presence, what tata needs is a better interoir quality and rattling issues which keep coming up to owners, and more engine options to choose from and i dont know i can keep on and on list for this beast,

I think the Safari's quality have improved by leaps and bounds since the heydays. But that said it dose need a major design overhaul, especially the interiors which still looks circa 80s. Like 4x4addict mentioned that A/C unit needs to be much smaller as well, there are home split units for sale that are more compact than Safari's rear vents.
It needs to shed a lot of weight, there is at least half a tonne of excess metal fat on the Safari.
All said and done no other SUV provides bang (esp. road pressence) for the buck like the Safari and hoping the new model continues on this strength.

I think the 'Safari' easily has the best street cred. among the Indian brands, I dont think Tata has to worry about brand name this instance.
Also they do have a decent eye when it comes to design, Agreed that the Vista has a lot of similarities to the Indica, but all in all they do handsome inoffensive designs.
Only thing Tata has to worry about is getting its quality bang on from day one.

I sincerely hope it is not designed by the same knuckle-heads that designed the Sumo Not-So-Grande.

Disagree.. I think TCIC Safari after the initial niggles were sorted out had the best quality. The quality started going down post DICOR 3.0
