It is not the new Safari. It looks more like the Innova. Hence, a MUV. So guys just chill. Till someone gets a spy pic of the new Safari lets not speculate any further. The new Safari will not come before 2010.

launching the new safari on the land rover freelander platform will be a very good idea for Tata. Hope it turns out to be so but it has to be the present generation platform and not an outdated one.

It is the Sumo-Safari Crossover. Reportedly it would be launched before the new Indigo.

New Spy pics of Tata Xover / Indicruz

I cames across this article - Spy Photos: Tata chystá vlastní crossover. Příjde i do Evropy? | AUTO.CZ

Here is the translated version - Translated version of http://news.auto.cz/spy/tata-photos-spy-chysta-vlastni-crossover-prijde-i-evropy.html

So far, these are the best spy pics I have seen of this vehicle.

This time they are probably testing in Czech and Tata is not just paying lip service. They seem to be very serious in going to Europe with this car. Hope the launch is near

The Tatas already have the WINGER in this segment. Wonder why they want to bring in the XOVER. The WINGER is cheaper, they will have to phase it out if the XOVER comes in I guess. Imagine buying the dies from Renault and then producing the vehicle for 2 years and phasing it out.

no way, both the cars are from different segments

actually xover will compete with likes of innova, tavera
and winger competes with tempo traveller

ofcourse in some cases they might have similar customers but they will not effect each other sales

Tata has a big challenge in front of them with price points.

In terms of 7 seaters, they have the winger, sumo grande and this "xover". Unless they differentiate between these three products in terms of price point, they are going to have a bigger problem wherein one or two of these vehicles would be loss making.

Unless they don't want to release winger in India, and release it in Africa and ASEAN countries?

And If xover has to compete with Innova, they need many versions of it like Innova ranging from 8-13 lakhs.

It is going to be interesting.

Seems to be an illusive thread. Mods, isn't it apt to change the title?

Hmmm... twin exhausts, eh! Also, look at all the soot around the exhausts on the white bumper. They are testing a diesel burner for sure.

Does it look a little too long when viewed sideways?

Lets see the comparison of the side profile. Couldn't get the side profile of the prototype on the right side

Here is the Prototype:

Here is the Spy Pic

In the test mule, the hood seems shorter and the lights look like they are taken right out of indica vista.

May be it's just me. I like the prototype better

The rear most window shape reminds me of the ones on the Honda CR-V....

Overall, looks well proportioned though! Hope they get the fit/finish and pricing right!

By New Safari, you mean a all new vehicle and not the one that is being discussed in this thread I beleive.

Are you referring to the new Safari or the X-over?
They are two separate projects, AFAIK.
