Mahindra Renault to launch new Logan at Auto Expo

quoted from economictimes today evening...

Quote:
NEW DELHI: Carmaker Mahindra Renault on Tuesday said it will launch a new variant of its sedan Logan at the upcoming Auto Expo in the Capital.
The new variant -- Logan Tourer -- will be available in both petrol and diesel variants and will be priced Rs 5.5 lakh and upwards, the company said in a statement.
Logan Tourer has been conceptualised and co-branded in collaboration with baggage maker VIP, it added.
The 10th Auto Expo will start on January 5 in the Capital. Many players, including Honda, Toyota and General Motors, are showcasing their small cars the country's largest auto show.
i thought they were going to announce the end of JV in the autoexpo. I think they are launching the steppe?

1) One more JV that is not going to give more sales to Logan. I am afraid that due to association, VIP might lose sales.
Pathetic idea IMO.
Bring in new car ASAP to replace Logan and give it a better motors. This car has just lost the plot against competiton and now seems more confused car to me.

If they are not able to come up with new car to replace logan, atleast give this car better motors. Lack of good driving experience is one of the reason why people are staying away from Logan. A cosmetic upgrade with new motors will be good. An opportunity will not be wasted if they bring in new diesel atleast.

2) Any news on Sandero ?

It says a "new variant of SEDAN", which means it will be similar to Logan PLAY, or Logan EDGE, which means just another name and one more to the flop list

Logan in the sedan version cannot crack the Indian market. Its USP in Europe is its low price which is not applicable to the Indian market because of the presence of the local frugal engineering experts (read Tata and Maruti). The only way to salvage the investment is to amortize the costs by bringing in Sandero and Logan MCV which share the same platform. Xylo has clearly demonstrated a huge market for MPV's which can ferry the extended indian families togeather at a price lower than innova. The MCV (Steppe), even at 1 lac more than the sedan would be VFM considering the well sorted ride and handling package as compared to the ocean liners like Xylo and Grande that are in the competition.

That will look good as a hearse van. Dull, drab and sad while carrying a corpse.

Since it's a tie up with VIP, will the car come with zippers and a number lock for the doors?

I feel that would be a notch better than the Xylo.

It is an edition of a logan sedan with free VIP baggage, purse, toilet kit, vanity case, skybags, strolley to overstuff that big boot for touring people.

Babes are not part of the offer.
