What is this car? I saw this the other day in Whitefield, and it was so similar from the rear 3/4 like a Punto. Which Chevy is this? Anyone?

regards,
Ajish

Its the new Sail hatchback. The rear end is quite similar to Punto and Figo ( a combination of both ). This car is primarily based on old Corsa platform ( the one which was available in India ). The new Sonic is actually having a new platform, not the sail.

Found this hatch back chevy Sail in my apartment visitor's parking lot. Excuse the low quality snaps - taken from my phone at night.

Observations:
1. Plane Jane looks - if not for the black stripes on the car, I would not have noticed it. Speaks volumes about the bland design.

2. As big as say the U-VA - slightly wider would be my guess

3. Could not make out whether it was a diesel or petrol - no markings as such.

4. Could not check out the interiors as it was dark

My take - If GM wants to see sales in 4 digit numbers for this car, they better offer this at a mouth watering price else this will end up as another sales dud for them.

Edit - Sorry - Not sure why the pictures are not getting loaded - Will try to load on another post

Here are the snaps of the Chevy Sail hatch back. Mods, could not post in my earlier post - please merge if possible.

Sorry to say GM, but the car is now looking atleast 5 years old to me! Adding to the injury, you have selected brown interiors as against Beige/Black.

If it was the car yesterday, today it is the turn of the Van. Here are the snaps. Sorry for the "fish eye" effect on some snaps. My son was playing around with the camera settings.

The Van looks essentially a copy of Xylo with almost the same dimensions. Plane Jane looks are carried over to this one too. 3rd row seats looked spacious. Dashboard looked tacky - similar to Xylo. Looks to have a little more luggage capacity than Xylo.

Hi Chennai-Indian,

If we compare the Evalia and Xylo and Enjoy, can you rank them in terms of size and road presence?

I have not seen Evalia in flesh so not commenting on that. If you compare Xylo and Enjoy, I would say size wise they are almost the same - I feel that Chevy Enjoy has more spacious interiors.

Road presence wise, Xylo looks much better - especially with the new look front end. Will wait and see once Enjoy is launched though.

By the way, I had commented that the dash board was looking as tacky as the Xylo one in my previous post - however, when I saw it today in day light, it looks much better and well put together. Here is a snap:

This picture suggest that Enjoy joins the league of some elite vehicles where the interiors are ergonomically designed keeping in mind the ease of operation and no fiddly switches here and there!

Spotted!!! New Chevy Sedan Test Mule

Hi Guys, spotted a test mule from Chevy, a sedan which seems to compete with d'zire, etios etc., It had an unmistakable mini cruz front end and seemed to be based on the beat platform (by size, i have no other techinical information)

Sorry for the bad quality of pic's, they were shot from mobile, in heavy traffic and moving car

Possibility of SAIL SEDAN to come with 1.2 L engine.

Quote:
....And what we can gather is that even the Sail sedan would also come with the same 1.2L petrol mill.

It was commonly believed that the Sail sedan would get the 1.4L mill possibly a reworked form of current Aveo’s. But according to the latest information we have, Sail sedan would also come with the same 1.2L petrol mill which would be borrowed from Beat. The diesel mill would be the 1.3L MultiJet diesel which we are so accustomed to in India.....

There goes whatever excitement I had from this launch. The looks already are bland, I was hoping for atleast some exciting engine options. They anyways would nt get any duty benefits as the length is more than 4m, then why not give it a bigger heart and get some life into it?

Just saw the Chevy Sail sedan doing its run during peak hour commute on the WE Highway here in Bombay.

Trailed it all the way from Bandra to Andheri.. was covered in the fairly light criss cross stripe "disguise" with all badges covered.. even the logo on the horn!!
