Head-on, it looks fine and aggressive. However, with the side profile, it loses the plot. By the time you get to the rear, you wonder what car it is.

The car does look aggressive and the side profile looks somewhat similar to the ANHC. This does look like a perfect replacement for the Aveo.

Its new Chevy Aveo. IMO this one will make it here sometime in 2010.

It cannot be an Aveo replacement. Its quite a bit smaller than the current Aveo and the engines are smaller too. When was the last time a new car was smaller than its predecessor? Also observe some of the features on top of the dash and compare to the Beat.

Besides, its selling alongside the current Aveo in China.

That's a shame isin't it. Same story with Fiat products.

Might make sense to launch it in the DZire segment , but the interiors just just don't cut it. The outside baby Cruze looks are fantastic. They should launch it with a good diesel engine and it has potential in this segment. The Indian Aveo's interiors are far far ahead of this. To date I don't really understand why the Aveo did not do well in the Indian markets. GM India's just not aggressive enough.

The front looks good. Also the side profile is decent with nice crease flowing. But the rear looks bland due low loading lip. Still, it will make good case(with its mini cruze looks) for itself if launched with good engines and gearbox( GM lacks in this department).

Looks like it is a better alternative to logan or indigo manza if they launch it here

Since it is a Shanghai GM developed car, I doubt GM will bring it to India. But I hope I am wrong. If GM can pitch this sedan below the Aveo, with better engine options including a diesel, there is no reason why it should not do well in India.

The new generation Aveo/U-VA is still in the works, so a Beat sedan that sits below the Aveo is not a bad idea for GM.

Set to be positioned right into DZire and Manza Territory. Does anyone know when is the expected launch?

Autocar magazine seems to have some details in its latest issue.

From the front it is a replica of the cruze and the sides remind of the manza and the rear of a logan, They have combined 3 ugly looking cars into one, great

I tend to disagree on calling Cruze ugly. I agree with the other 2 though. After all it is competing in the ugly segment (Dzire, Manza) .

nice looking package. With atleast 1.3L engine and around 6 lakhs pricetag will compete well here.
Even with the same Interiors shown in the pictures, I feel this can give a blow to the Indigos and the dzires.
If GM comes out with pricing similar to what they did for beat..I'm sure it'll beat all the competition.

Im Confused !

So is this the next gen aveo or another car altogether? Sidindica had put up spy pics of the next gen aveo sedan a few months backs

http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/intern...-photos-3.html

The car in the thread (link attached) is way more sportier and chunkier !The car in this thread doesnt look like its based on the next gen aveo hatch which is again a real stunner !

Good question, but this is a global change in the design philosophy. The bumper no longer extrudes significantly from the headlamps. However, what's good globally, isn't so great for India, in our traffic conditions, some more "bumper" is good.
